    Hi Ben and Jamie, great work. I am currently trying to use WCvendors but I still need few features to make it work as I need. I am trying to find the right way to go.

    One of the core question for me is how do you manage similar products sold by different vendors. To the eye of the buyers it is a bit confusing to get many similar product presented multiple times (ebay style I guess…), do you have some plan to make the products appears only once (1 per EAN or UPC) and each vendor propose simply a price, its shipping costs and quantity for that product? Allowing competition over the price and shipping cost.

    Would that be a feature in the future? For when is the pro version it by the way ? Enthusiast to see what it looks like 🙂

    Hi Vincent,

    You’re right, right now it’s eBay style, not Amazon style. It’s something we’ll be looking into for Pro, although I must admit it’s somewhat low on the priority list since only 2 people (you included!) have asked about this as a feature…….

    Hi, thanks for the answer. I’ll follow the development closely, great job anyway. Hoping others will join asking for the feature :).

    Hi Ben,

    I would like to second/third this request for a number of reasons:

    UX
    As a user it makes for a far better browsing experience. Example: camera-marketplace.com has 300 vendors selling the same cameras. A user searches for “20 Mega Pixel” cameras. Result: 300 of the exact same camera model is displayed followed by 300 of the next model and so on.. I think you will agree this is not a great user experience.

    Vendor Price Wars
    Following on from the above scenario, when the user is presented with the same camera 300 times the obvious choice for the user is to sort by price. This will inevitably not only create but promote an environment where vendors are continually changing their product/shipping prices to remain at the top of the price ordered list.

    SEO
    Although google may or may not penalize a site for having multiple duplicate content it will however try to only display any single product once for a domain name in search results. This would mean a single vendor would be ranked for a specific product.

    I think the ideal way to manage multiple vendors selling the same product would be to allow vendors to either search for existing products to add themselves as a seller of or when logged in be able to click a “Sell this Item” button on any product on the store.

    I do appreciate that this functionality is low on the priority list but I think that as marketplaces that use WC Vendors grow and add new sellers this is a problem that they will inevitably run in to.

    For me WC Vendors is the best multi-vendor solution available and I think that you have done great work with it, which is why I would love to see this functionality added to WC Vendor Pro or even as an additional paid add-on to Pro.

    🙂 It seems the “Business value” vs “Story points” ratio is rising

    It’s just such a HUGE thing to write, for the 4 people who want it. It’s no small undertaking. WooCommerce isn’t really setup to handle products by multiple people, things can get messy real fast. It’s not even the right platform for something like this. Perhaps in the future, but I’d be shocked if it makes it in before 2016………

    I wait for your reply. Thank you in advance.

    No progress at all, it’s on our “features to consider” list, but not something we currently have any plans to implement.

    I am interested in this as well, but it doesn’t need to be visible on the front end. I sell products from (5) different distributors and quite a few of them are common products. It’s the same SKU, cost, description, etc… I would like the front end to show and sell the product to the user, but I would like the order confirmation email to me or back-end order admin to show me which distributors have it and what their stock levels are.

    Is that possible?

    @JMA72
    At this time, this is not possible– and there are not currently plans to code in such a feature to WC Vendors, no.

    We are considering migrating to wordpress/woo/wc vendors. The feature described above would certainly benefit us. It is critical enough we might consider outsourcing the work to get it done.

    @simplysellingstuff
    Last I spoke with Jamie about this feature (allowing more than one vendor to be the assigned vendor of a product) he said it is NOT likely to be added by us as a feature to WC Vendors.

    I’d like to put my vote in for this also. For what it is worth.

    I understand you have priorities and this one is low.

    Thank you for an awesome plugin!
