The reason you have to keep manually updating the product in the back end is because WPUF sucks. I’ve never found a fix for that problem and have had to abandon that plugin a number of times as a result. Their support basically says “Works fine here, you figure it out”. One of the reasons we developed WC Vendors Pro. 🙂 We’ll have subscription based product support roughly in version 1.3.
