    Hi guys,
planning on buying Pro very soon (probably just before the price rise :)), but have a question first.

Can my Vendors sell downloadable/printable vouchers (AKA coupons)?
For example a restaurant runs a special offer of “2 meals for £25” through my site. Obviously I want my share of that money, so I want the customer to actually buy the deal on my site.
So can I set it up so that the customer has some proof to say that they have paid (apart from the PayPal receipt), and that they can bring to the restaurant with them to redeem the offer?
Could I do this with Virtual Products maybe? I’ve never used them, but the WC docs don’t cover this scenario.

The icing on the cake would be something that worked on mobile too, rather than them having to go home and fire the printer up.

    Thanks for any suggestions,
    Philip.

    Hi there

Yes – you just have to list as a virtual / downloadable product and upload the voucher. WE have done this with afternoon tea vouchers http://helloand.co.uk/product-category/foodie-experiences/afternoon-teas/

    Hope that helps

    Hi Jenny,
thank you for answering me, you might regret it though! Joking 🙂

How do you generate a unique voucher, so it can’t be shared or used more than once?

Maybe you’re using a plugin to control it? None of the ones I have found so far seem suitable.

    Many thanks again,
    Philip.

    Hi Phillip

This was a problem I had – they may be a better way but at the moment I just add to the vouchers, must be accompanied by proof of purchase.

We are small at moment so manageable but not ideal.

Maybe Ben will have the answer 🙂

    Thanks again Jenny,
I’m sure there’s something out there. I remember seeing cool plugins years ago, when I didn’t need them, typical.
    Cheers,
    Philip.

You can sell anything you want! 🙂 But of course it’s up to the voucher plugin to provide the unique serial number functionality you need. 🙂 You could probably easily tweak it so that the printable part includes an order # on it, that seems like a pretty easy solution but then again, I’ve never used those plugins so your mileage may (and probably will) vary. 😉

    Cheers

    Hi Ben,
OK, thanks. I was hoping there might be a way to do it without adding yet another plugin.
Also, I don’t want to be tied to a printable receipt only, so if people are out and about they can purchase and redeem totally on their mobile.
    Onward and upwards then.
    Regards,
    Philip.

    Hi,
    I found this – http://codecanyon.net/item/woocommerce-pdf-vouchers-wordpress-plugin/7392046
There are a few restrictions, mainly that it only works on the back end, so isn’t compatible with WCV Pro (I think) but the rest looks good.

    Hey,
    me again.

I haven’t been able to find anything that looks a better fit than the plugin above. And it does say on it is compatible with WC Vendors (no mention of Pro though).

Do you think the front end/back end mix would work OK, or am I wasting my time with it?

I can’t believe no one else is selling virtual products with WCV, am I missing something obvious?

    Many thanks again,
    Philip.

There’s a lot of sites selling virtual products with WC Vendors. In fact, tons of them. Not sure why you are thinking otherwise! 🙂

Asking the plugin author to integrate his printable voucher plugin with Pro would probably be the best way. If we did the work ourselves, based on everyones request, it’d take us ten years. There’s thousands, and thousands of Woo plugins out there. 😉

    Hi Ben,
    thanks.

The reason I said that is that I can’t find how they are doing it (selling virtual products in the form of printable vouchers ) and tracking the sale from site to shop in a professional and scale-able manner.

    Thank you,
    Philip.

It’s probably just a bunch of custom meta for a WooCommerce order and when you buy something it generates a serial number and puts it in a printable page. After someone buys a voucher, it fires a function to generate a code, and saves it to the order. That’s my guess, at least, as of course every plugin is different. 🙂 Similar how Woo’s API Manager can generate a license key for guys like us who sell Pro plugins. It’s likely quite a bit of code so it’s much more complex than I make it sound like, but that’s the general idea. 🙂

    Thanks Ben!
I’m still looking for that elusive plugin to do all this (
