After applying coupon, vendors still get commission on the list price instead on the discounted price. I have tried with cart % discount & product % discount both.

    Hello,

This is how it should function. The idea behind this is as the marketplace owner you are discounting the price of a product you didn’t list. If you want to discount the product then you still need to be paying the commission the vendor expects based on the price they listed.

The pro version will allow you to change the direction of the commission by discounting before commission or after commission.

    cheers,

    Seems a bit broken then!
If I am not getting the full money, why am I paying the full commission?

    Is there any work-around?

    Hi Charan,

You need to think about this from a vendors perspective also. If you want to discount products that you don’t own and you don’t set the price on, why shouldn’t you pay the full commission? It’s your marketplace if you want to use discounts to get people to use the site you have to take the hit, not your vendors.

If I was a vendor on your marketplace and I listed an item for $50 and your commision rate is 10% I would be expecting to see $45 in payment from you. Now lets say you offer a discount and that discount makes my product now only $25 which means I only see $22.50 from you. This means as a vendor I now loose $22.50 on the sale of a product. Which could be under my cost price.

How is this good business for your vendors? Does this make sense?

    cheers,

    Jamie.

thank you for the free lesson in math.
i am in touch with my vendors and am running a sitewide promotion taking them all into confidence.

i am not trying to scam a vendor or anything. they’ve all agreed to a lower commission based on the money i earn.

    now what?
another lesson in economics? or a solution?

i know about the mythical pro version but there’s no eta on it.

    Charan,

Maybe it’s just me, but does your reply not sound very angry and insulting? We’re here to provide you with free support, not get beat up with your words. That, perhaps, is your humanity lesson for today. 😉 Friendliness is free, sprinkle that shit everywhere! 🙂

This is the way that WC Vendors functions because this is the way a vast majority of the admins and vendors operate. If you’d like to to work different, you’ll just have to modify the plugins code in order to do so. It’s open source, the code is freely visible. So knock your socks off and have fun with it. 🙂

I know it’s free but I did buy the original plugin when it was run by matt
    But that’s not important

I just didn’t appreciate the condescending replies telling me how to run my own store and frankly they were a bit offending

A simple “that’s how it is” would have been useful instead of a “you’re using it wrong”

    Thanks anyway

Aah, that makes sense. Jamie wasn’t trying to offer a condescending reply, rather explaining why it works the way it does. You can *always* customize anything you like, we have to make the way the plugin works for the majority of the stores that use it. We support over 2,000 sites right now that use WC Vendors, and so far, you’re the only request for the coupons to be used in the way you’ve asked. I, too, bought the plugin from Matt, and use it on my own stores. That’s why we took over this plugin, we both use it and someone had to keep it up to date otherwise it would have stopped working for everyone last summer. 🙂 Take care…..

    Hello,

My reply wasn’t just for you it was for everyone else that also is looking for this answer and by giving a complete explanation of how the system currently works I’m answering your question and also others in the future. It wasn’t meant to be offensive or condescending. I’ve had to explain the math behind how it works before. You didn’t mention that you understood that you would be giving lower commissions or that you had a site wide agreement either. It was supposed to be a general answer that could be looked upon in the future.

That being said, you’re the first to ask for this way and as Ben said this is Open source and you could submit a pull request to provide this feature. There is also a filter in the commissions class you could use to change the commission behaviour.

The filter is wcv_commission_rate on line 272 of WCV_Commission class.

    cheers,

    jamie.

Just want to quickly chime in here: I fully expected coupons to work as the original poster thought too (where the revenue share is calculated from the discounted price), and to be honest I was a bit shocked when I had a closer look at the individual transactions involving coupons and noticed that the discounts solely came out of my commission. So: here’s a big +1 for the option to share the coupon discounts between the vendors and shop owners.

Thanks aand. Part of pro will be a reworking of coupon options, so another thing to look forward to. 🙂

Sounds great! Any ETA on the fabled Pro version? I’m eager to get it up and running, and see what you guys have been adding 🙂

Another +1 for this. A high volume vendor asked me to create a coupon for them. I limited it to just their products. They got a ton of sales today and I was surprised when the commissions were based off the normal price and not the reduced price. Now I have to figure out a way to adjust all those so the reports are not off and I can pay their commission!

Can you hear that? The people are chanting “Pro, Pro, Pro, Pro…” You have a customer already waiting in line!

    Hi there,
Please forgive my newbieness… I’m currently looking for a mutli vendors plugin. Yours’ seems great but I am trying to understand the coupon system and what I read here is not really clear.

Option 1: if the vendors want to apply a discount, will my commission be calculated on the full price or on the discounted price? This is not clear…

Option 2: If I want to apply (myself) a general 10% discount on the marketplace, I understand the 10% will be taken off my commission, right? and the Pro option would be about splitting the 10% between me and the vendors?

Thank you for your feedback 🙂

    Hello,

Option 1: Currently the vendors cannot create coupons that can be used for their store. This will be available in pro.

Option 2. Any coupons created by the site admin and the commission comes out of the full price. Yes pro version will allow you to say where the commission is taken.

    cheers,

    Jamie.

    AM,

Hopefully within a few months. It’s hard to set a time frame on a product that’s in development. But we’ll get there. 🙂

    Hi,

I’m having problems with the coupon – unlike the stream above, i do want to do a promotion, whereby the platform covers the cost and the commission the vendors get is unaffected.

i.e. if price is $10, commission is 20%, vendor gets $8, platform gets $2

if I apply a coupon for 10% off order, the customer pays $9, but I want the vendor to still receive their $8 but in this instance, platform only gets $1

I’ve tried setting coupon to before and after in but it’s still taking the commission off the vendor price as well, so

please advise what to do… thanks
