Hi! We’re building a new marketplace and like Handy and Social Marketplace for what we’re doing (targeted toward women, boutiques, homemade, etc). I’ve read here that people have issues with Handy breaking with WCVendors new releases, have those been fixed?

I’ve read elsewhere the Social Marketplace itself is slow and has had many issues with the theme itself… All else equal, what do people here recommend and why? Or Is there something else that you’d recommend?

    Blaine,

I’ve read here that people have issues with Handy breaking with WCVendors new releases, have those been fixed?

Last I checked, no- Handy authors had not updated yet for WooCommerce 3.0+ and WC Vendors 1.4+

Social Marketplace *can* be slow sometimes, but overall it is good. If you want the social aspect (buddypress) and an internal social marketplace then it is the best one for it at this time. They do update- slow to do it at times, but they do fix things, respond and update when needed.
I use Social Marketplace currently on my site, and although I did modify some things, all in all it works great. It has gotten better over time.

I have also used KLEO, Generatepress and Avada,
Avada is dated; it was all the rage a few years ago but is lagging now and SUPER SUPER HEAVY!!. It works but I would not consider it the best theme for WooCommerce or WC Vendors.

KLEO is one of my standby themes.. I have always likes KLEO and the authors, SevethQueen, are great. Great for BuddyPress & BBPress.

Generatepress — use this if you want to do your own styling and integrating. Very plain and very customizable. It is the best simple, stable, clean-slate theme I have used, and the author is AWESOME and very supportive. Super fast and lightweight.

ThanksAnna! Would you mind sharing a link to your site? I’d love to check it out. Social Marketplace was my first choice, but most folks in their forums seemed to be having issues and the demo is REALLY slow on mobile (I expect most of our users to be on mobile).

KLEO looks really cool. I’ll spend some time checking it out.
