I been playing around the free version and it’s pretty cool. I understand that pro is in a work in progress mode. i have a feeling that the end product will be much better than the existing competitors. i have faith in wcvendors, so i was going to buy the pro today but for some unknown reasons i dropped the cart and went through some forum thread again.

i intend to launch my e-commerce multi vendor site at the latest this mid november. I will explain my business model, hoping you guys can tell me if wcvendor is a suitable/stable product for me or not.

I have 50 shops waiting to sign up as a ‘vendor’. they will upload their product, manually approved by me. (this is fine with the free version).

The problem i am having now based on kleo theme. When on vendor dashboard i click on edit product, i get directed to the front page. i remember when i manually approved the product, there was a notification like ‘taking over’. does that mean that the vendor cannot edit the product anymore?

The commission model and how i receive money:
i have 2 payment gateways ‘payment on delivery’ and credit card. i use a plugin to decide which payment is shown for which product, for e.g clothes is payment on delivery (that would be the vendor retail shop) and credit card for buy 2 nights in a hotel for example.

Now, if the buyer uses a credit card the money will come to me and then i need to pay the vendor. so i set the commission to 95%.

If the buyer uses a payment on delivery product, i set the commission to 5%. meaning the vendor needs to give me 5% commission from the money he received in cash at the retail store?

Do you guys think that if i receive lots of orders, i will get confused in the admin order page (referring to the due amount in admin). who needs to pay whom and how much?

I intend to use a reward point system too and a booking plugin- can you guys give a timeframe when the booking engine will be compatible?

Any other issues we should know about the Pro before going live ?

    1. i am glad to hear that most clients dont have style problems and whenever there is one, you try to fix it. I was planning to use ‘nielsen’ theme but after going through the customer feedback on themeforest, ive changed my mind. i am going to try wcvendor with ‘Blaszok’ from themeforest.

    2. u were right, the problems were some plugins. i removed them and i can access the wp-admin. however, i dont think as a vendor there is a commission report on the free version.

3.I dont think my commission calculation is wrong. according to my model, the vendor will be collecting all the money. so he keeps the 95% and gives me 5%. i dont know if there is a commission report (vendor dashboard) and/or if it will be confusing for the vendor. i intend to use wcvendor the other way round. i dont owe them but they owe me for having sent a customer to their retail stores. My workaround would be to send the vendor a weekly/monthly invoice with all the products sold (lead) through my site and the amount (commission due) by them.

    4. i might have another problem now with the reward system. Since You said (in another thread) that both status (processing and completed) means MONEY RECEIVED. the buyer’s point system will be credited once he completes check out, irrespective if he goes to the store and actually buy the product. I WAS HOPING, that the vendor can mark a product as ‘delivered/shipped’ and then the order status change to complete (order fulfilled).

Last question sorry, do you think wcvendor would be the ‘right’ product for my business model (meaning i wont collect any money but the other way round)

    1.) Yay! 🙂

2.) Sure there is. The Vendor Dashboard shows them the stats on the front end and they can run any dated report they wish. 🙂 Included in Free, and much more detailed in Pro.

3.) Cool, then yea you could do the invoices with the monthly vendor reports that are already generated under the WooCommerce reports. That’ll tell you the vendors totals, and you’d be good from there.

4.) Nope, while this makes sense to YOU, it will NOT make sense to your 50 vendors. 🙂 They dont care about order statuses, and allowing them to change them will create you *much* more of a headache than you can ever possibly imagine. 🙂 Vendors are typically not technically skilled, and will click any button if it’s there even if it does the wrong thing. 🙂 The Mark Shipped adds the tracking information to each order, so it’s really easy to see in the order notes.

5.) It’s the right plugin for anyone who has a marketplace with vendors. You just might want to tweak things here and there, and of course, our plugin is the most customizable one on the planet.

    Hi Ben,

I have the same business requirement as siloynet in question number 3 – Flipping the commissions around. The current model seems to be catered to major box stores or distributors and NOT catered to the Etsy model.

Can you tell me if this feature enhancement request is on the product roadmap, and if not, can you add it? The work-around seems cumbersome/admin heavy, and when operating a start-up, adding more admin to the process is a pain-point. Especially when it seems this can be solved in the plugin.

    Thank you!
