ParticipantHello!
I have read a few threads stating that development is underway for WC Vendors Pro to support WooCommerce Bookings.
My question is, once WooCommerce Bookings support is integrated into WC Vendors Pro, would it be possible to create a multi vendor platform for rental products using WooCommerce and WC Vendors Pro, that any vendor can put up their items for time limited rentals, along with features like security deposits etc?
Thanks!

Hello Sri,
Yes- for rentals. I believe the time slots also. As far as deposits- I am not yet certain, as I am just now getting my hands into Bookings and it has a lot of various options. ๐February 19, 2017 at 6:01 pm #56868Srikanth Nair
ParticipantThanks for getting back to me Anna ๐
Is deposits something WooCommerce has to support or is that something you folks can add into WC Vendors Pro?
Any idea on when these features will be available in WC Vendors Pro, some sort of an eta? Sorry, you must get these questions A LOT but I ask so I can pass the right information to a client.
Thank you again for your help and getting back to me!

It looks like the deposits capacity would not be supported within Bookings- there is a separate plugin used for WooCommerce for Deposits: https://woocommerce.com/products/woocommerce-deposits/
And it is compatible and can work in conjunction with WooCommerce Bookings.
HOWEVER, I’d need to ask out lead developer how deposits would and/or if they *could* work with WC Vendors at this point.
You are actually talking more in terms of a refundable deposit, though- and I am guessing if you are running a marketplace with these, then those would NOT be a part of the funds that would have commissions taken form them by the admin (vendor would get 100% of the deposit). So– it is a configuration that may not need the extra plugin. Instead, a separate “deposit” product could be attached, with 100% commission, and then the full payment would be completed.
Anyway I am not certain exactly how this would come together- but I believe it is possible.
Yes- we do get a lot of questions regarding the WooCommerce Bookings Extension time frame. I understand- but I really do not know when it will be completed. WooCommerce is about to release a new version that has a LOT of changes– so we have to prepare for that first.
I know that much of the work for the Extensions has already been completed- so it is well under way. That is- truly- the best idea I can give you- which is not much, but that’s all I know!

ParticipantThank you so much for that detailed reply Anna, greatly appreciate the time and thought you put into it.
Yes, I’m looking at a rental marketplace with a security deposit and it does make sense when you say that the deposit plugin may not be necessary as the deposit can be added as an extra field in the product, of course piecing it all together is another matter ๐
“HOWEVER, Iโd need to ask out lead developer how deposits would and/or if they *could* work with WC Vendors at this point.” – If you could clarify that with the lead developer, I’d be grateful.
As for eta, I’ll just have to wait then ๐
Thanks again!

ParticipantHowdy Sri!
If we worked with Bookings + Deposits for you, this would be a custom order, and around the $400-$1500 USD range, roughly, depending on how long the project took.
Moreso, what I would recommend, instead, is asking codeable.io to quite you to tie the two together. They are super fast, priced reasonably, and will give you a flat rate quote to get the entire job done. I’ve never heard a complaint here for them nothing but praise. I’d do that once 1.4.0 + Bookings comes out and then have them tie the rest together. If we were to do it, we’d not have time to begin till at least the end of April.

ParticipantApologies for the late reply Ben. Thank you for taking the time to do so!
The solution I have been talking about isn’t for myself but for a client who has already had a bad experience unfortunately with a half-baked solution built on Magento 1.9.
I have been researching on potential solutions and one of the thoughts I had was that I could create this rental marketplace solution for my client on WordPress with WooCommerce + WCVendors Pro + WooCommerce Bookings + BuddyBoss (tight integration with BuddyPress for messaging etc) + build custom bits for the remaining features (security deposits, sms verification, geolocation based searching etc). Am I on the right track, especially with the WooCommerce + WCVendors Pro + BuddyBoss pairing?
I will investigate codeable.io.
Thank you again!

MemberSri,
I think you are on the right track. WC Vendors is not fully integrated with WooCommerce Booking yet- but when we are, I do think that you will be able to complete the project for your client with perhaps just some additional work for the deposits. Until we can get Bookings integrated, though, and take a look at what more you need, I am not sure just how much you’ll have to do for the deposits.Glad you like the new site design. ๐

ParticipantHey Anna & Ben and whoever else might find this helpful,
I asked WooCommerce about the security deposit and this is what they had to say:
MY QUESTION: Can I used WooCommerce (along with WooCommerce Bookings) to create a WordPress site where users can rent items to each other and renters protect themselves by attaching a refundable deposit (security deposit) to the item to protect themselves until the rental item is returned?
WOOCOMMERCE ANSWER: You can refund any transaction or any amount in WooCommerce as long as your payment gateway has support for refunds. There wouldn’t be a separate functionality for a Security Deposit specifically. You could create a product called Security Deposit and attach it to your orders or you could add in the deposit to the cost of the booking.MY QUESTION: If I added โSecurity Depositโ as a product, I would then just refund that item (Security Deposit) after the rental item returned, is that right?
WOOCOMMERCE ANSWER: Yes that is correct.MY QUESTION: This would also work in a multi-vendor setup where each vendor/renter/lender would rent their item and have their own โSecurity Depositโ product, right?
WOOCOMMERCE ANSWER: Yes…if you are using Product Vendors then all the money initially goes to the Admin of the site (you then pay out commissions later if that is part of the your set up) so you can refund the security deposit amount yourself. So, where WooCommerce mentions their product “Product Vendor” is where I would like to think WC Vendors Pro would take the place, am I right OR do I have to use WooCommerce Product Vendor in my case?
Thanks!

MemberSri,
Yes– instead of their Product Vendor plugin, you’d use WC Vendors & WC Vendors Pro.
Our plugins are more feature-rich than Product Vendors.
So far it sounds like when we have the WooCommerce Bookings Extension completed, you’ll have the solutions you need for the site you are working on.March 13, 2017 at 9:51 am #58924Srikanth Nair
ParticipantHi Anna,
Thanks for getting back to me. Any update or an idea as to when the bookings extension will be done?
I am hoping I can give a concrete answer to my client this week.
The solution I am suggesting is WordPress + WooCommerce + WooCommerce Bookings + WC Vendors Pro + BuddyBoss + other plugins to fill a few gaps. Does WC Vendors Pro play nice with Advanced Custom Fields Pro?
Thanks Anna.

ParticipantHello Ben, Anna and team!
Just a few more questions ๐
– Is there a way to screen products vendors add? For example, review potentially offensive product listings or listing of items that require a special license? Ideally, we would like the vendors to add products without approval but if they fall into a certain category or contains certain words/images, we would like to review it and then approve/disapprove.
– Is there a way we can review the reviews before it’s published? For example, restrict certain words being used and possibly flag it for us to approve upon the use of those words?
Thanks!
SriMarch 19, 2017 at 10:55 pm #59451Anna
MemberHello Sri,
– Yes, there is a way to set certain vendors as “untrusted” vendors. This sounds like it would be ideal for what you need. wp admin > users > thevendorname > edit. Scroll down to UNTRUSTED VENDOR : Check to require all products submitted to be reviewed, regardless of global publishing rules. This overrides the trusted vendor option. So for vendors who would need approval before the products could be submitted, you can check this in their admin user profile.– Currently there is not a way to screen Vendors reviews/feedback. Good suggestion though- I can add this as a suggested enhancement.

Participant@fervous Thanks for getting back to me Anna.
Difficulty with untrusted vendors is that you would have to know beforehand that they are untrusted. I was hoping that irrespective of the vendor or their status, we could flag products based on category/keywords and then flag those for manual approval.
It would be good to have ways to manage reviews to some degree, not to curb openness but rather ensure that offensive content or flat out lies aren’t posted.
In a way, both of my questions revolve around the ability to add filters/controls so that offensive/illegal content doesn’t end up on the marketplace.
Thanks for your time Anna.
Sri
