You’re probably wondering “Where the f#*& is Pro v1.2.0”?!? We know because we’re asked this every day. Sometimes a few times a day. Sometimes even more! We’re ALMOST DONE with it. SO CLOSE! But we still have a few more things to tweak and then a day of testing. You’ll get an email when Pro 1.2.0 is released, so you dont have to keep checking the forums. 🙂

Here’s a quick preview of the new admin settings in Pro v1.2.0. We’re still adding more, and almost done, and almost ready to begin testing before we push Pro v1.2.0 live. See the attached screenshots.

Now you can use the wp-admin WC Vendors settings area to configure your vendor signup form, shop settings pages, and configure if you want to use the Free or Pro headers for your site.

Important changes: The big changes to Pro v1.2.0 are under the hood. We’re removing the Vendor Stores custom post type that caused you so many problems because your theme author sucks and hard coded styles into their theme. You’ll be happy to see now, that your vendor shop pages will be exactly the same way that your /shop/ URL works, and exactly the same as you saw it in WC Vendors Free, but of course, with the Pro headers. The /vendor_stores/ slug is being removed entirely. Now the main setting of /vendors/ is the only area where your vendors have a store now. Make sure you set this if you changed it from the defaults upon upgrading. Of course, removing the Vendor Stores means we had to put the data somewhere else. We’ve decided to keep it simple, and use the users edit page for your vendors store data. Just like in Free, you can edit all the vendors Pro settings on the Edit User screen.

There’s been a lot of other functional and styling tweaks, such as:

    – The ratings system the stars are now much easier to understand and less clumped up

    – In addition to _wcv_custom for custom meta keys on the form pages, you can also use wcv_custom now. Meta keys without the _underscore on them will then show up automatically on the edit product page under the Custom Fields meta box withing WooCommerce. No underscore is a hidden meta key, and will not be shown.

    – Mark Shipped makes its brave reappearance for sites using translations and couldnt see the Marked Shipped button

    – Attributes show up as the name rather than the slug

    – Small issue with sites using W3 Total Cache and redirection

    – The WooCommerce System Status page will now show if your Pro templates are the current versions or not, just like it shows you if your themes templates are out of date.

    – More actions to hook into different sections of the product form

    – When a vendor clicks “Delete” on a product, a popup window asks them to confirm if they really want to delete the product or not.

    – Big sites with a single vendor having a few thousand orders will now load them all on the Pro Dashboard without puking

    – Coupons are much cleaner now by putting the ID’s into a helper icon rather than displaying them all at once every time

    – More filters for product meta tabs

    – Now fields on the Product add/edit form can be required or optional. By default, only the Title is required. (Yay!)

    – Application pages now have customizable notices to display custom text to your vendors when they sign up. Handy to tell them what you expect of them, the site rules, or whatever you fancy.

Those are just some of the highlights. There’s even more still, which you can read about in the Changelog when Pro 1.2.0 is released.

Oh yea, another fun one — We’ll be releasing a free plugin that automatically integrates with WooCommerce Simple Auctions. You’ll see that on the site soon as Pro 1.2.0 is released. WCSA is a $19 plugin that allows your site to basically be eBay. Killer value on a plugin that offers so much! ( http://codecanyon.net/item/woocommerce-simple-auctions/6811382 )

So what’s next? v1.3.0 will be gin shortly after 1.2.0 is released, and then all of you bugging us for full variations and attributes will have your wishes granted. 🙂

PS — There’s a brand new theme coming out in a few weeks that is specifically designed for WC Vendors Pro. If you’re looking for a theme with a REAL integration from a developer that knows what they are doing — the BuddyBoss Team — then keep your eyes open for the email when that comes out very soon.

    Have fun.

We’ll be issuing a hotfix for v1.2.1 to fix some activation errors some sites are seeing, and an error with the shop descriptions and prices. If you havent upgrade to Pro v1.2.0 yet, wait for v1.2.1.

Arvid: No, #224 is a WC Vendors Free issue, Pro doesnt handle emails.

v1.2.1 is released with a few hotfixes in it mostly for shop descriptions and people who couldnt activate the new version due to using ancient versions of PHP 😉

    Hi @ben
Thanks for the great plugin so far. well done.
I see from other forum posts that variable products will be supported from 1.3.
I’m debating whether to go through the pain of converting a large number of variable products into simple products so I can switch to wcvendors now. Or whether I should wait for 1.3. My decision seems to come down to timing. If 1.3 is a few weeks away, I’ll wait. If it’s a few months away, I’ll take the pain.
Do you have ANY bearing on what your dev pipeline for 1.3 and variable products is going to be like?

    Thanks!

Great, thanks for the quick reply Ben, that’s helpful.
Ok, fair enough on the Dev times, I know all about that.
On your point 2) are you referring to a specific Vendor Shipping plugin that is not yet compatible?
To clarify- All our vendors drop ship, and from what I can tell the current Pro version will allow each seller to set a price per product, which would be sufficient. I assume this could still be done via the wp-admin on the back end to set a price per product for a variable product. Or am I missing something?

2.) Sure, setting product prices in wp-admin is no problem. It’s the SHIPPING prices you can not configure via wp-admin.

Vendor Shipping is the shipping extension that comes bundled with WC Vendors Pro. 🙂

Ah right. Those are pretty major. Ok, I’ll have to wait.
@ben please could I ask if you would be kind enough to issue a refund for my recent Pro package purchase. I’ll buy again once those key requirements are covered off.

I purchase yesterday at 17h48 (uk time) with the email <[email protected]>

    Thanks!

    Hi Ben,

I might be in the same boat then. I purchase 1.2.1 a day or so ago and I do love the pro dashboard!!

I would be happy to add the variable products for my customers in the admin but the customer needs to be able to assign their own shipping rates.

Should I also wait for 1.3.0?

Why are you two buying Pro and expecting features that don’t exist? You both are crazy. 🙂 Variable products ARE NOT SUPPORTED UNTIL v1.3.0. What you do till then is up to you. I cant magically make your sites work with stuff we dont support. That’s why we don’t support it, the features arent written. 🙂

Hi Ben, got your email about posting in the wrong place and am still unsure if this is the right place? can you let me know will wc vendors free or pro work with the listify theme by astoundify? it looks like some aspects are but I see a post from a year ago about wp job manager incompatibility does this still remain a problem do you know? Also will bookings work with wc vendors but is not supported yet?

    Regards

I don’t know if Listify theme will work or not, if Listify is 100% WooCommerce compatible, you’ll be fine.

I don’t know about WP Job Manager

Bookings will not work with WC Vendors Pro until v1.4.0 when we add support for it, which is a few months away or so.

    Cheers

Hello Ben, I have the last question before I buy the plugin as it will handle my shipping problem.

Is it possible that seller can add meta tags and titles to the product? I have the SEO yoast plugin installed but I dont think it will show in sellers admin.
Can I add a custom field to seller admin which will allow to add meta tags?

    #22868

    * Added: Filter for product meta tabs
    is this what I need?

    #22881

    Hi Gabriele,

I’m not sure how to add meta tags and such for Yoast SEO. You would want to find out what the meta keys are, and then add them to the product form as the correct type of text input custom field. Yoast would probably have documentation on how to do these with which meta keys/values.

The “filter for product meta tabs” is completely different, and unrelated to what you’re looking for.

    #22960

ok, yoast has a pluigin for woocommerce but it is not working on wc vendors front end. So how can I implement the meta tag field on front end for sellers? wc vendors free version has at least the wp meta tag fields. This one is super important for SEO and you should add it to the pro version.

WE can’t add support for all 50,000 plugins on WordPress.org. That’s insane. 🙂 It’s up to you to add the custom fields. In the KnowledgeBase are articles on how to add custom fields, additionally you can download for free from the Our Plugins page the WooCOmmerce SImple Auctions Integration as a template for how to capture meta keys and values that already exist by third party plugins.

If we were to integrate automatically with all existing WooCommerce plugins, Jamie and I would be busy for the next ten years coding them all, and then good luck with updates if they change anything, it’s a pointless battle. 🙂 This is where your elbow grease comes in! 🙂

no problem, I understand. I just threw in an idea. No offense.
Are we taking about this one: https://www.wcvendors.com/kb/custom-fields-to-shop-settings-page/
I saw it and of course I can create such a field if it full fills the purpose. Is this the one to use?

    #22966
    WC Vendors Support
    Participant

Nope, that’s for the settings pages.

    For the product add/edit form:

    https://www.wcvendors.com/kb/adding-a-custom-field-for-products/

….and those examples are using an automatic meta key detector and storer. For EXISTING meta keys such as Yoast, you would download:

    https://www.wcvendors.com/product/woocommerce-simple-auctions-integration/

….and review the code in there for existing meta fields to be saved on the add/edit product form.

I’m a bit annoyed my comment was removed. I was pointing out that after purchasing Pro I needed help with a solution until 1.3.0 comes out.

I’m happy to use the free version so I can use variable products but I need to figure out how to give my vendors shipping options.

    #23664

    Hi Tone,

Variable products are not supported by Pro until v1.3.0. You’re asking us to provide a solution for something that doesnt have any code to support any solution. Shipping options are available for supported product types, and only them. There is no way to get shipping and variable products to work together, as it’s not supported by Pro yet. We cant just wave a magic wand to add features, they have to be coded, tested, and checked. Variable products are immensely complex. Just variable products alone will probably be 15% of the entire Pro code-base, if not more by the time we’re done with them. We’ll get there, but for now, you cant use Vendor Shipping with Variable Products, and you shouldnt use Pro for Variable products. I’m sorry for the inconvenience, we were always clear that variable products are not supported till v1.3.0 and that vendor shipping is front end only.

    Cheers

could it be possible to add custom fields for that on the front end for vendors? You said it is possible for meta tags, right?

    Hi Gabriele,

Do you mean meta tags as in for HTML and SEO? If yes, then you would have to add the tags to the templates, and then hook those tags into your SEO software. Each SEO solution does things different than the next, so you would have to experiment with this and see what works and what does not. Check out the KB article for a few links on how to add custom fields to your pages.

That’s OK and i’m happy to wait for the next version but I want to launch my store so looking at solutions.

I’m happy to use the free version until the update as I need variable products but I’m just stuck on the shipping option which I would be happy with flat rate per vendor.

I actually have the same problem otherwise I would have bought pro already weeks ago. I need variable products too and meta tags and titles at front end. Important things for a multi seller site. So I wish I could buy pro but I cant and I want to launch the store too 🙂

    Hi Tone,

I fully understand. Thank you for keeping a calm head about things. 🙂 I know it must be frustrating waiting for new features when you need them “right now”.

Flat Rate per vendor is part of Vendor Shipping, but can not be set on individual products. Your vendor can set a global rate (Pro Dashboard > Settings > Shipping) for their per product shipping rates, but can not override this for Variable products. They can of course override this on other product types, by going to Pro Dashboard > Products > Edit Product > Shipping, but not on variable products.

@blucats — Don’t buy Pro till it has the Variable product features you need for your site. That’s an easy decision. 🙂 v1.3.0 is being developed now, but it’s still going to be a while and certainly not ready today.

As for the meta tags, you can do this, you just have to figure out how to hook into the SEO plugin to do that. Every SEO plugin is different. I would point you to a blog post by Yoast explaining how meta tags are essentially worthless and a waste of time, though, perhaps worth a quick read to see if you agree with him, the SEO Jedi Master:

    Hi Ben,

    OK I have a solution.

I’m using pro and I have setup a vendor and created a couple of products. In the admin I changed the products to variable and created the the variations for them. Bit of manual work but that’s OK.

Under the Pro Dashboard and settings of the vendor I added the shipping as they using flat rate.

When they order goes through it shows the shipping and the commission works fine.

For now I can survive like this until 1.3 is ready.

    Glad that’s working.

Any news on bookable items and accommodation, I have created a front end form to create the product from but I cant allow vendors to edit the product on the dashboard in pro it does not show the product types. In free version at least it just blocked the product type so it kept the type created by the front end form. The problem is I need to link these product to job manager listing to show up on front page and does not work if the vendor does not edit product and save it

    2. Filtering the product availability is an STD feature in Magento. I want to know about woo commerce.
