    Hi,
In order to avoid scams, I would like to payout a vendor after a customer has indeed received the order.
My question is if such a process is possible. For instance: a vendor ships the order, the customer marks the order as received, the commission is set free to payout.

Also, how is the current ‘order status/processing’ designed? A vendor can set the order to shipped correct? But who can set the order to completed?

    Thanks for your time,
    Robbert

    Hello,
We do not have a function like this built-in. You would need to pay your vendors manually (you can already do this if you choose), but code in your own way to have customers notify you when they have received an order.

WooCommerce has order statuses, but only the admin can change the order status to complete. This is because there can be more than one vendor in an “order”. WooCommerce views the entire cart as an order- regardless of how many vendor’s products are in the order/cart.

The marked shipped status that the vendors used is created by WC Vendors as a courtesy to vendors and customers. It does not change the status of the full order – again- because more than one vendor could have items in a single order/cart.

    Hi,
    Thanks for your comprehensive answer.
So wcvendors has a custom function to separately mark items from 1 order as shipped. Based on this function i should also create a new function to let customers mark their order as received, correct?
Is it thinkable that wcvendors will implement such a function in the near future? I really believe this is a great improvement since it rules out scamming.

Also, is there any ‘code aware’ person here that can estimate the work load of a function as mentioned above?

    Please let me know.
    Thank you!

Yes- you would have to code in an action that would notify you, the admin, that the customer has checked this box/button. Then you’d go and pay your vendor manually and mark the commission in the commissions table as PAID.

I highly doubt it. It is not something that is often requested; and even less so is it a feature that is likely to be helpful.
I once sold on eBay years ago- when they also owned PayPal – and they started this silly requirement for certain orders.. they would hold your payment until the customer notified them it was received and that they were pleased with the order.
NEVER ONCE did a customer go through that process. I had funds that were held for about 6 months, and they finally released them.
Most customers will likely not do this; however, maybe you have a niche market or something where this is more practical, where there is more interaction happening between yourself, your vendors and customers. ;-).

It might work for you- I am not saying it is a bad idea– but most of the time customers do not even leave a rating or feedback unless they are REALLY happy or REALLY pissed.

I’d recommend codeable.io for this job… not something I can take on right now, and I know Jamie is swamped.

    Hi,
    Thanks again.
Ok.. so what do you think is the best way to verify a vendor and avoid scam?

    Thanks again, Robbert
