    Hi Support,

When I created Paypal App to use Adaptive Payments I followed your instructions (https://www.wcvendors.com/knowledgebase/configuring-paypal-adaptive-payments/) but now Paypal is saying that I should set primary and secondary receiver in the other way (Primary: vendor and Secondary: WC Vendor).

It seems strange to us so I´d prefer to confirm with you if this is the correct way and how commission % should be configured…
If the primary receivers are vendors and we want to give them 95% we should use “95” as “Default commission (%)” or “5”?

    Thanks!
    Joaquin

You should be the primary receiver, since you’re the website operator. We’ve seen them reverse this though, and it does not seem to have any impact on things. So whatever works, really.

If commission is “95” then the vendor will receive 95% and you will receive 5%.

    Hi guys,

I had also an exchange with PP lately about this Primary and Secondary receivers, let me show what they say. It seems to explain why PP ask us to be secondary, it seems to be about the responsibility of the merchandise:

Celine from PP when applying for the PP application:
Before we proceed with our review, can you confirm that the seller will be the Primary recipient in the Chained payment & you will collect your fees as Secondary recipient? We will require you to set up the payment in this way so that the seller is the Merchant of Record in the case of any Chargebacks or Refunds. Please amend your selections in the ‘Services used by app’ — ‘Adaptive Payments’ — ‘Chained Payments’ section of your submission to reflect this. Note: You will need to click the App Name in the ‘My Apps’ section of paypal-apps.com in order to expand and edit the fields of your submission form.

    Myself to PP:
About the order in which I have to place myself or the seller in Primary or Secondary receiver, I am afraid if I place the sellers as primary receivers, they will need a specific type of Paypal accounts, is that correct? Would my sellers need to apply to a dev paypal account?

    Celine from PP:
All recipients in a Chained payment require at least a PayPal Premier account. Personal accounts or unregistered ones will not work, regardless of whether that account is Primary or Secondary in the chain. You could use Parallel Payments instead of Chained, in which case no PayPal account of any kind is necessary up-front and the Sellers would just get an email on receipt of a payment notifying them how to access their funds.

    Does it makes sense?

Tell PayPal that we do not support nor offer Chained Payments, and to just accept your damn app because we know what we’re doing. 😉

I’m confused regarding PayPal app. WC Vendor says they do not support chained payments but this thread says to put primary and secondary receivers under chained payment. I am in the process of trying to fill out my app and I am unclear about this part.

Also, wondering about paypal fees. It says only chained payments can be set up to charge only the secondary receiver, which is what I wanted to do since I am taking a tiny commission. But I want payments to both receivers to be instant.

    Thanks for your help.

All payments are parallel payments, that’s why there’s no actual primary or secondary receiver. Chained is checked on the application just in case we do offer chained payment support in the future, then you wont have to redo your application. Just future planning, that’s all. 🙂

As for how the fees work, that’s a question for PayPal, we just provide the gateway for free with WC Vendors, PayPal changes how their fees work often so it’s a better question for them.

Thanks Ben for your quick response.
I did go ahead and fill out the PayPal app per your link above. I was approved conditionally.

I appreciate that WC Vendors is a free plugin. Although I would pay for a Pro version if it made this whole process easier. Setting up shipping and taxes is complicated especially since I am creating a multi-vendor site. It would be nice if someone designs a process that is more frontend user friendly for the vendors.

When I used the WC Vendors Test Gateway I was able to receive a “payment” But when I try an actually order I get the following errors.
Error ID: 579040. Receiver PayPal accounts must be unique. (I get this cause I used the same paypal email for sender and receiver)

I researched the following error. On your forum you say Parallel Payments need to be activated. Where can I see whether it is?
Error ID: 580022. Invalid request parameter: payKey cannot be null
It is hard to know if an issue is woocommerce, wc vendors or PayPal….

Thank you if you can point me in the right direction. I think I am close to getting this site launched…

We are developing a Pro version, that keeps everything on the front end and easier for vendors, and it’s being released for sale on October 1st. 😉 It is $99.

As for the specific PayPal error you are receiving, we just write the gateway. PayPal supports their own customers, and you’ll want to ask them what Error 580022 means. I mean, I could google it and copy/paste the answers, but you can, too. 🙂

Thank you Ben-I will be purchasing it 🙂

    Sometimes it gets
muddled as to what plugin/theme/or process is responsible lol. Thanks for the direction and your quick response.

I’ve just had the same response from Celine about primary and secondary receivers:

‘Can you confirm that the seller will be the Primary recipient in the Chained payment & you will collect your fees as Secondary recipient? We will require you to set up the payment in this way so that the seller is the Merchant of Record in the case of any Chargebacks or Refunds. Please amend your selections in the ‘Services used by app’ — ‘Adaptive Payments’ — ‘Chained Payments’ section of your submission to reflect this. Note: You will need to click the App Name in the ‘My Apps’ section of paypal-apps.com in order to expand and edit the fields of your submission form.’

I will get back to her and explain I won’t actually be using chained payments and report back here. Wouldn’t it be an option though just to remove the chained payments part, if we’re not using it? If it is a problem from PP’s standpoint, I mean.

The chained part of the app is so that your account still works if we add chained payment support in the future. You could just omit that from your application, sure. Doesnt matter to us at all.

Yeah Celine said to remove it if I’m not using it, so have done. Hopefully she will approve my app now.
