Alright, so… I’m a techy kind of guy and not one to usually ask for help but I’ve been messing around with this all day. I’m not only new to WooCommerce, but also had just installed the Free version a week ago and never really got it working correctly and then I decided to install the Pro version hoping that some of my Free issues would just go away… so I may sound a little “newby” here…
I can get to the Pro Dashboard, no problem. but most of the links on the Pro menu either take me to what I think might be the Free Dashboard versions or I get 404 errors. I have read the forums and knowledge base up and down and can only get a few tidbits of things that me be of use. For example, everywhere you talk about the permalinks. I know I have those right and keep re-saving that as I go and they seem to be firmly planted where they need to be.
Here’s what I know:
While I was comparing features of of WC Vendors I was also testing out a competing product (I know… you have no real competitors :-)). But what I have is now confusing me. I uninstalled the other plugin but still seem to have a double of user roles Vendor and Pending Vendor. I know in the background the slug is a variant and I think I have figured that out. I also use a Real Estate listing plugin and I’m not sure if those are for that or the uninstalled competing vendor product…
dashboard – http://columbiavalley.com/my-account/dashboard/ – works
products – http://columbiavalley.com/my-account/dashboard/product – doesn’t work
orders – http://columbiavalley.com/my-account/dashboard/orders – 404
orders works if i remove dashboard from the url
settings – http://columbiavalley.com/my-account/dashboard/settings – 404
settings works if I remove the /dashboard/ – but appears to be old settings
ratings – http://columbiavalley.com/my-account/dashboard/rating – 404 either way
coupons – http://columbiavalley.com/my-account/dashboard/shop_coupon – 404 either wayfeedback seems to work but there is nothing showing there except the title
The ‘shop’ location is set to be /artisan-market/shop
When I run the wc-vendor status page I get, among other things:
### WC Pages ###
Shop Base: #6391 – /artisan-marketplace/shop/

With Pro, I didn’t know what to do with the existing templates so I renamed the folders to old and moved the new Pro version template folder into it’s place. I could find no documentation on this exact thing so was experimenting with it either way. I also know that I don’t necessarily want to move all of them as mentioned so as to not miss out on updates but figured I could modify the ones I wanted and delete the ones I didn’t.
The website can be provided for you with login credentials should you want that. Perhaps from this you can instantly say I’m an idiot and provide a solution… 🙂
November 25, 2015 at 10:07 pm #16774WC Vendors SupportParticipantFirst, do this: https://www.wcvendors.com/kb/setting-permalinks/
Second, do this: https://www.wcvendors.com/kb/reset-roles/
Let me know if that fixes everything! 🙂
November 25, 2015 at 10:43 pm #16777ScottParticipantI had done the first thing many times before but did it again anyways. The second thing I did and then logged into my-account. All it did was give me a white screen. I waited a bit but still white. then finally refreshed. I had been logged in but everything appears the same with links not working. Tried the last part twice – white screen twice. still have 2 vendors, 2 pending vendors and 1 rejected vendor.
November 25, 2015 at 10:47 pm #16779WC Vendors SupportParticipantThe white screen is good. It means your roles are reset. 🙂 You then delete the code as instructed in it from your themes functions.php file.
I realized now that you have messed around with the page hierarchy which is bad.
/my-account/dashboard = bad
/dashboard = good!
Change /dashboard to be its own parent, save the page, and re-save permalinks. Let me know if we’re getting closer. 🙂
November 25, 2015 at 11:04 pm #16781ScottParticipantOK… that seems to be getting me closer. I now can see the sub-items on the dashboard and no 404’s. I will play around with it a bit and make sure everything is good. Thanks! I may be back…
November 26, 2015 at 1:26 am #16797dymockpoetParticipantHi Ben,
Why is my-account/dashboard bad? In the free version I use my-account/vendor-dashboard. In the setup guide you say to set the pro dashboard to the same permalink as the free (at least that’s how I interpret it), so you may want to add something to the guide to warn against this if it’s a bad practice (it did seem to result in more errors for me than just /dashboard).
November 26, 2015 at 12:04 pm #16832WC Vendors SupportParticipant/my-account/dashboard/ is bad because:
/my-account/ uses WooCommerce rewrites so that they can have /my-account/lost-password/ etc without having individual pages for them.
/dashboard/ uses WC Vendors Pro rewrites so that they can have /dashboard/product/edit/xxx etc without having individual pages for them.
So when you combine the two, you can often conflict with things and cause a lot of errors/unforeseen problems. It might work on some sites, and work horribly on others. We wont trouble shoot any dashboard problems if they are subpages of /my-account/ because of this.
November 26, 2015 at 7:33 pm #16851ScottParticipantI have done some thorough checking through the process of everything and all seems good. The only thing I found was… when I went to add a product image and tried to click ‘Edit image’ so I could resize it, that link just opened up the my-account page in another tab.
Also, Can you point me in the direction of how to add Captcha to register portion of the my-account page? I have searched through the forums but wasn’t able to really find much. Is this just another plugin I have to get from somewhere? Or am I missing something?

$cY5FCNRR!ru5Os0Mri#tKUmThe only other thing I haven’t figured out yet is how the old way of setting up a vendor through the User role setup… i have graphics being loaded in there and haven’t fully figured out the config for the Pro on that, so still showing some old and some new… I have made some style changes to nice it up a bit in the dashboard.
November 26, 2015 at 10:05 pm #16858WC Vendors SupportParticipantIt appears you are running Multisite. WC Vendors Free and Pro do not support Multisite yet. If you can convert your site back to a single site installation, things will go much smoother and work without issue.
That’s also the issue with adding a vendor manually, you cant choose a role (and Vendor is the role) for a new vendor.
Ben
November 26, 2015 at 10:13 pm #16859ScottParticipantWell, I seem to have got it working fairly well using Multisite. You can register (apply), complete some of the details and submit application. Everything comes through fine, I then just arrange payment for the vendor spot and change the user role from pending vendor to vendor. Vendor gets the login details and can then finish setting up their site.
As I am new to even the Free version I don’t know what’s missing or what’s wrong. I’m sure I can fix the vendor header layout problem. I just haven’t spent much time there yet. The only real issue I had was editing an image upon upload. If a vendor uploads and image thats the right size then they will never need to edit the image anyways. What else do you see wrong there? I ‘just’ installed a anti-spam plugin for woocommerce.
November 26, 2015 at 10:25 pm #16860WC Vendors SupportParticipantHow did you get WC Vendors Free and Pro activated on Multisite? We’ve not added Multisite support, it shouldn’t even work (at all). I’m still trying to figure out how you even got it to work this far. 🙂
November 26, 2015 at 10:29 pm #16861ScottParticipantWell, I don’t know. I new to wcvendors. All I know is that I am running it only one one site right now under multisite so not sure what problems I would encounter if I was to pay for another license to run it on a second domain.
November 26, 2015 at 10:41 pm #16862WC Vendors SupportParticipantCould you provide a network admin login/url?
November 26, 2015 at 10:44 pm #16863ScottParticipanti can… but what are you doing in there? My menu is messed up and I have server 500 errors…
November 26, 2015 at 10:47 pm #16864ScottParticipanti can’t even get to wp-admin
November 26, 2015 at 10:52 pm #16865WC Vendors SupportParticipantYou cant even get in to your own network admin? Yikes. What I would be “doing in there” is trying to see how WC Vendors Free & Pro are activated. Neither plugin should activate on the site, it should give you a fatal error and quit.
November 26, 2015 at 10:57 pm #16867ScottParticipantwell everything was working just fine before. have never seen a 500 error on the site before. let me work on getting that back to normal and i’ll get back to you in a few. I made the my-account page accessible a couple of hours ago and have since had about 10 spam registrations. hence the reason why I was asking about recaptcha… which i did install… as soon as I saw that first 500 error after you had access I deactivated the spam plugin but nothing changed.
back in a few. I can get through to the site via multisite no problem, just cant access it directly. might be a caching issue.
November 26, 2015 at 11:17 pm #16868ScottParticipantWell, I made the “my-account” page accessible from my main menu a few hours ago and since then I have had 1945 malicious login attempts, hence the 500 errors. The site is now down and only accessible via admin login. I installed Anti-Spam by CleanTalk as the plugin. It’s activated now but need to learn more about it before I make the site live again and risk this again… you can log in.
November 26, 2015 at 11:18 pm #16869ScottParticipantI can provide you another login to core but just want to let this rest for 15 minutes so I can catch my breath LOL
November 26, 2015 at 11:20 pm #16870WC Vendors SupportParticipanthttps://wordpress.org/plugins/wangguard/ is the best for stopping spam registration. I use it on all of my sites. That coupled with a regular security plugin like iThemes Security, or Sucuri, should take care of it.
November 26, 2015 at 11:26 pm #16871ScottParticipantThanks. I will address that immediately as well as changing your password. i will private message you that in a moment.

November 26, 2015 at 11:39 pm #16873ScottParticipantWell… I have installed wangguard… maybe I shouldn’t let you past that point… LOL you’re going to take something away from me now aren’t you? 🙂
November 26, 2015 at 11:45 pm #16874ScottParticipantThe only issue I have thus far is the editing of an image uploaded by a vendor. It doesn’t take me to the image editor, it just opens a new tab to my-account. not a big deal really as I intend on having a trainer video for showing people hoe to properly size their images.
Giving you access into Multisite means giving you superadmin access…
November 26, 2015 at 11:51 pm #16875ScottParticipantWhen you see the My Sites at the top when logged in do you see ‘Network Admin’ there? I’m new to giving access to a multisite install.
November 26, 2015 at 11:55 pm #16876WC Vendors SupportParticipantSuperadmin access is correct. We won’t be modifying or viewing anything we shouldn’t. Look at my post history by clicking my name. We request login details for sites almost on a daily basis sometimes more. We’re not in the business of hacking you, we’re in the business of coding this plugin.
1.) You’ve got Multisite enabled, and WC Vendors and WC Vendors Pro appear to be mostly working. This is insanely confusing, since neither plugin should work on a Multisite environment. I’d like to dig in and figure out why they work on your site, and how they are activated. Being a superadmin allows me to do that.
2.) I cant figure out the image editing issue, without being able to see plugins and be a superadmin. The local admin accounts plugin page doesn’t even work, it redirects you to some other plugins settings page — FS Contact Form.
November 26, 2015 at 11:59 pm #16877ScottParticipantGranted.
November 27, 2015 at 12:04 am #16878ScottParticipantThings of note… I run a domain mapping tool. It’s “supposed” to allow me to “alias” another domain – in this case “invermere.com” to “columbiavalley.com”. It’s not working right at the moment I think because the plugin developer stopped supporting it several WP versions ago. I am working on that as I require both domains to be accessing the same content found on columbiavalley.ssneumann.com, ssneumann.com being the core of multisite. Probably doesn’t have anything to do with what you’re trying to figure out but may be heloful. columbiavalley.com is actually a mapped domain to columbiavalley.ssneumann.com. It’s just I can’t get the second domain to work as a secondary. If that made any sense at all.
November 27, 2015 at 12:12 am #16879WC Vendors SupportParticipantThe WordPress MU Domain Mapping plugin, even though it has not been updated in over a year, is still a valid plugin and the best choice for domain mapping. Stick with this plugin, it’s what you want.
It appears that using this plugin allows you to activate WC Vendors Free & Pro on a single domain, which is rather interesting. Thanks for letting me diagnose that. It will be helpful for other members here for the future.
Where are you trying to edit an image that it redirects you? What’s the URI?
Ben
November 27, 2015 at 12:13 am #16880ScottParticipantI also use another plugin to output most of my featured products, top products, most recent products in widgets. you will notice on the main artisan page that only one is messed up and thats the one that I modified after installing Pro (I think). I will fix that.
November 27, 2015 at 12:14 am #16881ScottParticipantgo to the vendor login i gave you. add product. drag and drop, then click the Edit Image link. right there instead of it taking you to the image editor it kicked me to a new tab on my-account.
November 27, 2015 at 12:15 am #16882ScottParticipantI thought you needed to have the Free and Pro both activated on the same domain anyways.
November 27, 2015 at 12:19 am #16883ScottParticipantI will be soon adding another domain to the multisite (in fact its already in there I just haven’t cloned this to that yet) so it will be interesting to see if anything overlaps. days away from trying that.
November 27, 2015 at 12:22 am #16884ScottParticipantactually that will be interesting to see if the Pro or Free version will activate considering its still using Multisite and the domain mapping tool as well. I’ll try it without an additional license first and see if you like.
November 27, 2015 at 12:28 am #16885WC Vendors SupportParticipantThey’ll activate just fine, you’ll have no problems there. You wont be able to activate the second domains license since it’s already activated on your first domain, but you should be able to install/activate it, just not the license part.
Try adding this to your themes functions.php file:
add_filter( 'wp_image_editors', 'change_graphic_lib' ); function change_graphic_lib($array) { return array( 'WP_Image_Editor_GD', 'WP_Image_Editor_Imagick' ); }
That will change the graphics library to GD instead of Imagick. If this doesn’t work, it’s a WordPress/webserver issue that I will be unable to fix. Or, it could be a conflicting plugin, you might try disabling all plugins except WooCommerce/WC Vendors Free/WC Vendors Pro and seeing if the issue persists then.
November 27, 2015 at 12:32 am #16886ScottParticipantjust so you know… the theme used on the the columbiavalley.com, although I only like it because it’s ‘bullet-proof’, will be the common theme to be cloned over to shuswapnews.com and one other domain (domain mapped). I am intending on using that same child theme, most of the custom CSS, and most of the plugins, including the wcvendors. My intentions are to operate the two marketplaces separately without overlap unless a visitor chooses to view the products from the ‘sister’ site. It would be nice to somehow have them all meshed together but that would seem to be a nightmare from any angle… not sure what your future plans are in how you expect wcvendors to work with multisite.
November 27, 2015 at 12:34 am #16887WC Vendors SupportParticipantYour plans are fine, however you must remember that with WooCommerce a user on one site is NOT a user on the other, as WooCommerce only looks at the one domain/blogs users for ordering. As such, a vendor on one site is not a vendor on the other. It’s like running two websites, really. This isn’t a WC Vendors limitation, this is a WooCommerce limitation. Woo isnt really intended for multisite but it can be done with those limitations in mind. Time for bed for me. Past midnight. 😉
November 27, 2015 at 12:39 am #16888ScottParticipantThanks for your help! Hope it helps anyone else watching.
November 27, 2015 at 12:45 am #16889ScottParticipantI removed your SuperAdmin access. If you need it again for any reason let me know.
