When a customer attempts to make a purchase using our only configured gateway (PayPal Adaptive Payments), they get the error: “This transaction is invalid. Please return to the recipient’s website and try again.”

Our configuration is as follows: We have the live credentials configured with API username, password and signature. The application ID is blank (could this be the problem?). We have the Sandbox credentials entered as well, but have turned off the “Enable PayPal Sandbox mode” setting (obviously).

We also have “Enable logging” checked, but don’t see any log files created in the uploads/wc-logs folder, but figure this is because the error is on the PayPal side, not due to the WooCommerce plugin.

    Thanks!

    David,
Yes– the application ID is required for LIVE transactions.
For error_logs, you will want to go to a folder in your files that is just titled: error_logs (sometimes just yoursite/public_html/error_logs with cPanel)

If you have trouble after setting your application ID (or if you need your application ID) please get in touch with paypal so they can assist you and tell you what they can see from their end.

Hi Anna, thanks for the quick reply! I’ve entered the live application ID and a coworker is still getting the error message when trying to test a live purchase. I have logging enabled, but I don’t see an “error_logs” folder in our setup (which is Apache via cPanel).

I had no trouble finding the application ID, but may need to contact PayPal. I know this is probably outside the scope of your support, but is there a specific department or team that you’d recommend we contact at PayPal? Thanks!

    David,
Please do see what PayPal can tell you.
As of this time, I do not know what else might be going wrong with the way either this is configured or with what else you are using on their Site.
Please see if they can tell you anything about what they can see on their end, since they will be able to view much more than we can.
