I am planning to set up a new website and will use this plugin for the first time. The website will allow people to create a user profile account using buddypress, and then those users can open a vendor store if they want.

If a new buyer (non-member) wants to purchase an item in a vendor store, my understanding is the buyer will create an account during the checkout process to track the order and stuff. Is this account going to be either a buddypress account or a vendor (seller) account? Or will this be similar to a WordPress subscriber account? If possible, I don’t want buyers to set up a user profile or sell items in the shop, and I was wondering how the plugin keeps buyers separate from vendors and buddypress members.

I hope this made sense. Thank you for your time.

    Hello,
If a buyer creates an account at checkout, they will receive the “customer” role.
You can allow a customer to apply to become a vendor, either on the my-account registration page (before they have the customer role) or via the WC Vendors dashboard (after they have the customer role).
You can set your settings in WC Vendors to accept vendor application manually- meaning, they will need your admin approval before they are given the vendor role and allowed to open a store and sell on your site.
You also have the option to completely disable users from being able to apply to become a vendor if you wish.

As far as buddypress goes- I think a customer role would also be given a buddypress profile by default. there are a lot of rules & options within buddypress, and if you do not find the right restrictions, there are also a lot of third party plugins that will help you lock down your buddypress to only certain roles or members based upon your criteria.
