Hi guys, any ETA on variable product support? This is kinda key for us upgrading.

Also, suppose that we upgrade now, what happens to existing to variables?

And will vendors still be able to work on the backend?

    Hi Meremetia,

Variable products is a very hard puzzle to solve. This is evident with the amount of options available for the backend and its taken several iterations to get it that usable. I’d like to see if there is a way to create simpler templates that our customers can use to remove all the options not required. With regards to existing variable products with any new feature my aim is to ensure anything you do currently is only enhanced by the new feature. It will always be my aim to ensure that we don’t get in the way of your being able to do business. We’re pretty responsive here if you have a problem or a question.

As I mentioned in another thread, we’re launching a new site and along with that we’ll have a blog. I’ll be publishing tutorials on how to use different aspects of the plugin and create new and interesting ways for your vendors to utilise your marketplace.

    cheers,

    Jamie.

    Hi Jamie,
Yeah I can imagine the variable template headache. It’s a pain for us to explain to vendors how to use it..

I think a single-variable might be enough judging from experience. Just let them have 1 attribute, fill the variations and perhaps only allow to set different prices for each variation + stock management. That shouldn’t be too hard I think. From what I have seen features as image-per-variation, different shipping per variation, discounts are not really used.

Still you didn’t answer my other questions: What happens to existing variable products, and if I absolutely need to add new variable products at PRO, can I (or a vendor) still do it from the backend dashboard?

    Hello,

Sorry about that, I’m a bit sleep deprived. The US is asleep so I’ll be staying up to answer support questions so I apologize in advance.

Yes when we release variable products any existing products they will be able to work with. Which is the biggest part of the puzzle 🙂

Yes you can still use the backend, there are some things that aren’t enabled on the backend that is available on the front (reports and our new shipping tracking are two that come to mind) but all product related stuff is still there.

    cheers,

    Jamie.

Any updates on just a possible eta for this (variable products) support? Are we talking a week or two or is it several months away? We have many potential vendors that sell clothing items that are pretty reliant on variable products for sizes / colors etc.

Thanks in advance. Excited to use the new pro version, but realyyyy need variable products!

I’ll speak out of turn since Jamie is asleep in Australia right now. 🙂 Variable product support is probably less than 30 days away. However, it may be sooner, or later. We’re working as much as humanly possible. Pro is 89,000 lines of code. 🙂

I completely understand! thank you so much for the roundabout time frame. Looking forward to it! I am willing to chip in a little extra to help get this done as quick as possible 😉 Send me a bill! ha

Ben & Jamie, great job! Goodluck for this.

Can there be some inspiration from Woocommerce Product Vendors from Woothemes? They have support for Variable products. Just a suggestion 😉

    Hi Sanj,

WooCommerce Product Vendors does not have a front end product editing. We already support variable products on the backend.

    cheers,

    Jamie.

Wait! do you mean I can set variable commission percentages for variable products with WC Vendors?
