    Hi,
We’d like to open a small scale multi vendor marketplace, but we don’t want admin to ever have to collect payments, but rather allow each vendor to collect their own payments is that possible with WC Vendors?
We don’t wish to charge a commission fee to our vendors, but rather a small monthly fee, is there a way with your product to bill this monthly to the vendors?

Thanks so much, my apology if these questions have been asked prior,I did try fourm, but maybe I worded so I couldn’t find the answers to this questions as asked in search:
‘can vendors be charged just a monthly fee’ and ‘can vendors collect their own payments’
    Have a blessed day 🙂

    Hello,
Yes- this can be configured… though as site amdin you do still need to technically be the “platform” account.

    1. Set your commissions to 100
    2. Use either PayPal adaptive payments (you’ll need to ensure that your vendors will ALL have a paypal account entered upon opening a shop) -or- use our Stripe Commissions and Gateway plugin https://www.wcvendors.com/product/stripe-commissions-gateway/ and ensure that ll of your vendors have a STRIPE account connected to your platform.

    3. Check the forums for posts regarding a paid membership solution… here are two that may be helpful. You will have to do some work and configuring to have a monthly fee- but it is very feasible. I had that set-up for my marketplace for a while using Paid Memberships Pro.

    Hi Anna,
Thanks so much for the reply….so by “technically be the platform” does this mean we still have to take payments through our paypal account, then distribute 100% to the vendor? Won’t that still make us the ones who have to pay the fees and be liable for any refunds or chargebacks? In all honesty, it’s the bookkeeping we don’t want to deal with when it comes to tax time, thus the reason we don’t really want to be involved with any part of the exchange of payment between buy and vendors on our site. That’s the only thing keeping us from purchase, we just don’t want to deal with the payment aspect at all, we’d like to leave that between buyer and vendor. I don’t know if that’s possible, but if not we may totally rethink if we want to bother with the vendor site. Thanks in advance, again! Fantastic customer service, something that seems to have disappeared these days! Looking forward to hearing back 🙂

I should have a been a bit more clear..
*IF* you use one of the two gateways above (paypal adaptive payments or OUR stripe gateway & commissions plugin), and have payments/commissions automatically sent at checkout, as well as have your commissions set to 100… then you will to have to deal with taking payments first and then disbursing them to the vendor.s
You will not have to send the 1099 tax forms to vendors in this case, either.

You can achieve what you are looking to do by making sure commissions is set to 100 & making sure that your vendors are connected to paypal (if you use paypal adaptive payments) or Stripe (if you use our Stripe Commissions & Gateway Plugin).

    Hi Anna,
Thanks so much for your reply 🙂

Sorry, it’s I who should have been more clear, we NEVER want to accept payments for our vendors, through Paypal API or Stipe or any other payment system, we simply want vendors
to use their own accounts to collect their own payments, we don’t want to be the middleman so to speak, we simply want to provide the site where vendors can list their items, they receive 100 percent of each sale, they use their own accounts by any provider they choose. Our accounts would never ever be used in any way in connection with the vendors payments.

This is what we want to do:
We set up site***vendor pays us a monthly fee for ability to sell on said site***buyer makes a purchase****vendor accepts 100% of payments through their own payment system whatever that may be, we never get involved in any way shape or form with payment acceptance.

Is this what you are saying MUST happen?
We set up site***vendor pays us a monthly fee for ability to sell on said site***buyer makes a purchase***we collect 100% of the payment through our API/Stripe account***
we then distribute 100% of that payment to the vendor via chain or mass pay, at tax time there are no 1099 forms to fill out…….in this scenario, who is liable for refunds and chargebacks should they arise?
Thanks again, sorry to be a pain in the backside.

    Hello,

Is this what you are saying MUST happen?

No- you can configure with paypal adaptive or stripe connect (without plugin). Those two gateways will prevent you from needing to collect 100% of funds first to disburse at a later time the commission to your vendors.

If you have your payments configured (wp admin > woocommerce > wc vendors > payments) to have admin first receive 100% of the transaction funds, and then disburse to your vendors at a later time, you will have to send out the 1099 to eligible vendors.

We set up site***vendor pays us a monthly fee for ability to sell on said site***buyer makes a purchase****vendor accepts 100% of payments through their own payment system whatever that may be, we never get involved in any way shape or form with payment acceptance.

*IF* you set up your site to have 100 for commissions AND your make sure that your vendors have given a paypal email (paypal adaptive payments) or, if you use Stripe with our plugin instead of PayPal, and they have connected their Stripe account… you as the admin will not receive any payments from the transactions. The funds will go to the appropriate vendor or vendors at checkout.
Even in this case, however, if PayPal or Stripe loses funds because your vendor is not fulfilling transactions or has an issue, ultimately Stripe or PayPal will come looking for their funds back, and they will end up coming to you if the vendor does not comply. So- you’re not completely out of the accountability for this, but close. With Stripe Connect (and our plugin) or PayPal Adaptive, you won’t need to send out the tax forms to the vendors, though.

Thanks so much, exactly what we needed to know. As we have no idea who most of these vendors will be, I don’t really want to be liable in any way for payments that they might not return should that arise. Is it then possible to use WC vendors WITHOUT a cart and allow each vendor to perhaps, simply add a paypal “buy it now” button via the copy and past code that paypal will provide as html code?
    Thanks again 🙂
