Looks like a mass payment just went through?

I just checked my emails and last night this came through:

‘Hello! A payment was just triggered to mass pay all vendors their due commission. Payment status: error. Payment message: No vendors found to pay. Maybe they haven’t set a PayPal address?.’

    Hi Jamie,

Yes you can go ahead and try.

As far as I’m aware, nothing has changed since the last payout (which would have been last Sunday). Around the 20th of March I started experiencing an issue whereby orders were not processing correctly (stock not reducing, emails to vendors not going out) that is still ongoing. See thread: https://www.wcvendors.com/help/topic/orders-not-processing-properly/

Not sure if these two issues are related.

You can add some debugging code, sure.

The commissions showing as due are correct so if you can get it work I have no problem with that.

Yes I have commissions currently due. At least one of the vendors is new and has never been paid. Should I mark any new vendors as paid and try to only pay vendors I know have valid emails?

    Hi Ben,

At the end of every week I set the payment schedule to Now and process them that way. So it’s like scheduled payments but manual (nothing seems to ever happen if I set it to weekly or whatever).

    Hi Ben,

Is it possible to hire you or Jamie on an hourly basis to look into the above issue and now this? https://www.wcvendors.com/help/topic/cant-pay-vendors/

I am completely stuck at the moment. I can’t pay my vendors and 60% of my orders require manual intervention to process properly. I can’t carry on operating like this. I need help. What do you suggest please?

I have noticed that for my PayPal app the checkbox for Parallel Payments isn’t ticked, but this has never caused an issue before. Would it make a difference?

    Hi Anna,

I don’t think I’m using chained payments. What makes you think that? I have adaptive payments enabled for the checkout.

I’ll ring PayPal to check but I’m almost certain I still have it. As I say, I can see it in my account and I’ve been using it successfully for years.

    Hi Anna,

I can’t pay my vendors until this is fixed, so it’s kind of urgent. Can I pay Ben or Jamie to look into it for me?

    Hi Anna,

I have masspay. I can access it from the Tools section of my account. Also, I’ve been using this feature successfully for years until now.

    Hi Ben,

    Yes indeed.

So the issue started on Monday the 20th of March. Don’t know if there was an update to WCVendors around then?

We haven’t made any changes at all recently. I basically don’t touch the site except to update the plugins. So I have no idea why this has happened.

I can’t figure out any kind of pattern to the problem. Out of the last 5 orders, only two were processed properly. The other 3 had IPN payments complete but that was it. Stock not reduced, etc. These are all through PayPal adaptive.

I disabled Stripe earlier in the week because with that we were getting an even worse error where customers were placing multiple, identical orders because of internal server errors or there was no indication on screen that their orders were going through.

All of our products are unique, i.e. one offs. That’s why for each one the stock should go from 1 to 0.

I also had this problem after the last update. Anna’s saving trick worked for me as well.

I see, thanks. For me, the box is unticked and yet vendors can still access the reports on the backend. However I can live with it until you remove it.

    Hi Happy Couponer,

Just wondering if this is still the solution to use? Have you considered using a plugin to automatically sub new vendors to your Aweber list?

Because I’ve recently made vendor approvals automatic, so it’s one less thing to do, but your method would involve going back to manual approval (unless I hire someone to write a script to auto-sub new vendors to a MailChimp list).

How can I test it? I don’t have a test site setup and I don’t like messing round with the PayPal sandbox. It would probably take me 30 mins or more to test. Can’t you just tell me? Even better, you could create a KB article for it and then you would never need to answer it again.

The answer is no they can’t see any wcvendors stuff.

That’s interesting Ben. I don’t think it would be called Boss though because they already have a theme by that name which is for BuddyPress. But if they are working on a theme for Pro that’s exciting. I assume you will be emailing subs when it is out?

    Hi Jamie,

Thanks for the detailed reply. It sounds like a lot of the changes I would like to see are coming. I’ll keep a close on eye on developments and hopefully I can switch to Pro in the not too distant future. There are just too many deal breakers at the moment, for me.

But I know this can be a great product if you keep working at it and listening to users. I waited for Pro for over a year, I can probably wait a little longer!

    Hi Ben,

Why is my-account/dashboard bad? In the free version I use my-account/vendor-dashboard. In the setup guide you say to set the pro dashboard to the same permalink as the free (at least that’s how I interpret it), so you may want to add something to the guide to warn against this if it’s a bad practice (it did seem to result in more errors for me than just /dashboard).

    It says:

Pro dasboard page: ✕ -Your pro dashboard page cannot be set to your free dashboard page. Click here to change.

    Pro dashboard is /dashboard

    Old dashboard was at my-account/vendor-dashboard

Not sure why it thinks it’s the same…

This is exactly what I did.

    Deactivated all plugins.
Reactivated WC, then WCV, then WCV Pro.

My Pro settings were reset (Pro dashboard page not set, commissions set to 0, etc). This is the second time my settings have been reset – the first was when I updated to 1.1.1 (that time I deleted the plugin then re-installed the new version – another customer reported the same thing).

Yeah would love to get some clarification on this too. With other plugins I’ve deleted and installed new versions and not lost settings, but just now updating to 1.1.1 all settings have been reset! This includes my commission settings and, well, all of them.

There has to got to be a better way to update. Is there an ETA for the new update system? Because I know you said the Woo one you’re currently using is buggy.

Also I’m not clear on whether I’m losing the template mods I’m making to my files in themes/themename/wc-vendors – I hope not. Haven’t checked yet.

I’d be willing to pay Jamie to do it for my site only as without it my vendors basically ruin the site by choosing to put their products in too many categories, rendering the categories themselves pointless. Could you ask him to send me a quote? charlie[at]thebookcoverdesigner.com Or shall I get in touch with him?

Any timeline on the update for checkboxes?

I also agree with Karen about the tags.

OK so I’ve now manually changed betibup’s store url to be betibup33.

I think betibup’s link might not work because she hasn’t set a shop name, so it’s just assigned her a random string of numbers.

And for dormantwing’s, her shop name is set to The Book Cover Machine.

So it seems to set the slug as the shop name, is that right? And if there’s no shop name it gives it a random string of numbers?

I’ve been looking more into this and what I’ve found is, for the vendors it doesn’t work for, it seems to think the link should be: http://thebookcoverdesigner.com/designers/273704/

    That’s for http://thebookcoverdesigner.com/vendors/betibup33/

Or for this one: http://thebookcoverdesigner.com/designers/pageweaving/ For this one the trick I used – going to the vendors/ page and then a product, and then following the ‘by x’ link didn’t work. It was the same.

But then for this one: http://thebookcoverdesigner.com/designers/dormantwing/ It thinks the link should be: http://thebookcoverdesigner.com/designers/the-book-cover-machine/

OK thanks for the idea. I need to go to bed now but I’ll have a look at the templates tomorrow. Right now I’m bit unsure whether pro is worth it for us or just stick with the free version as the header thing is worse than it was, and we won’t be using the shipping or ratings (products are only sold once, so ratings should be for the vendor not the product).

I guess it’ll come down to how much of an improvement I think the front end submission is. I know I’m going to have to heavily modify the template for a start – we don’t want the pie chart, etc.

OK so the Shop Description that a vendor wrote before won’t transfer over to the pro version?

I’m concerned about cases like this where the text isn’t even readable anymore because you can’t scroll down to read it: http://thebookcoverdesigner.com/designers/magic-covers/

Just out of interest why do you pay your vendors manually? Why not use Adaptive payments on a schedule?

If it makes any difference, when I look at the order details it IS marked as shipped, so must just be not showing on the vendor’s dashboard for some reason.

I’ve just had the same response from Celine about primary and secondary receivers:

‘Can you confirm that the seller will be the Primary recipient in the Chained payment & you will collect your fees as Secondary recipient? We will require you to set up the payment in this way so that the seller is the Merchant of Record in the case of any Chargebacks or Refunds. Please amend your selections in the ‘Services used by app’ — ‘Adaptive Payments’ — ‘Chained Payments’ section of your submission to reflect this. Note: You will need to click the App Name in the ‘My Apps’ section of paypal-apps.com in order to expand and edit the fields of your submission form.’

I will get back to her and explain I won’t actually be using chained payments and report back here. Wouldn’t it be an option though just to remove the chained payments part, if we’re not using it? If it is a problem from PP’s standpoint, I mean.
