@bola did you ever get this sorted?

I am looking at moving to a membership site and saw the paid membership pro and seems like it has the subscription built in which would make this a way cheaper option than woocommrce members, groups, subscriptions.

Need to be sure that it will work with the role changes though and it would hide the products once the membership lapsed.

    Cheers in advance

you see it doesn’t matter what language you speak, once you explained the problem the support staff were able to deal with it. There was no need to give the support staff a hard time.

Glad you were only on your test site.

You must remember requesting support is a two-way process. Time and time again users are getting frustrated when a problem occurs. You are the administrator of a multi vendor website. DON’T UPDATE your live site without testing on your test site first and don’t start slagging off the staff because you cut corners.

I repeat don’t take updates for granted and test the shit out of stuff first. Then and only then do you request support and do it so your problem is understood.

    Hi Anna

Sorry, I forgot to tick notify by email.

I’m just using simple products for the vendors. I have a couple of products listed as admin that are variable products but as I say its just simple products for vendors.

    Hi Anna

So ive added a test bookable products and it appears that the global shipping is carrying over to these too. I’ve checked the boxes to disable shipping on the product but shipping is definitley showing up.

There may be something else too, but again only testing before I go out.

When I add a bookable product is will not let me check out as it says it is out of stock.

This could be me because I havent worked out how to do it yet, or it could be to do with the code snippet I use from the knowledge base to automatically check the manage stock checkbox. However, I do not set the quantity level – basically forcing users to add it in.

could it be because I have this the bookable product is automatically out of stock.

Not sure why your asking about woocommerce shipping in the wcvendors forum and any search engine would tell you. Just go into woocommerce shipping and change the shipping to per order. Its in there somewhere.

    Hi @FERVOUS

I’m pretty certain that I only installed the beta version on the staging site, but as previously mentioned I could have confused my updates. 92.67% certain I didn’t mix up the versions. Only updated the live site before I was ready.

yeah, that woocommerce 3 was pretty big and no doubt they’ll have another release out soon that will restore the missing shipping. It was an ok work around for my type of market place.

    Nofski
    Participant

    hi Anna

yes, it looks like that is happening.

firstly, I didn’t realise that you could do that. maybe it should be called max shipping charge override. But its a very good feature to have. As much as I love the shipping min/max option I was just thinking you needed a to be able to override occasionally on a per product basis and you’ve already got it in. 🙂

However, it is pestering me to enter max shipping and free shipping on every product listing.

also, I concur with a couple of other users on the forum, the woocommerce native shipping is not being displayed as previously was. I ended up using woocommerce local pick up as a global default, which sort of worked as a work around. It was clunky on checkout but you could checkout even if you had no shipping in the wcvendors shipping options. This has now gone which of course means no checkout.

Also, my delete media option has gone after the update but will go through all the plugins to check whats happening with that.

ive updated to the 1.4.1 version and most of the required settings issues have gone. Although, interestingly even though I have set min & max shipping in the store settings, on the individual product form it doesnt seem to recognise this and asks for them to be filled in.

    Nofski
    Participant

did this get resolved with the 1.4.1 version?

whilst I was testing the dev version on my staging site this is happening on my live site too after updating the live site by accident (doh!) I really should try to make the staging site look a bit different to the live site. Ha Ha live and learn.

However, this is definitely happening. Even if I add products with all the fields and save them as drafts they are being published also. Also seemed to have lost the delete media file button in the media gallery.

I will go through debugging on the staging site a bit later and report.

I had more of a play with this and found that a couple of the sub categories drop down boxes hung around after you changed from one category to another. Even if one category didn’t have as many subcategories. However, this is only on the test site where I have loads of plugin running at the same time and not got round to finding the conflicts that might be causing that. I’m with conscious at the minute. This is great to have, and I mean it, but I do like to be able to choose more than one category at a time.

However, adding to the above scenario with more specifics.

I had my item originally at one price only – no sale price.

I then think I scheduled a few items to be on sale prices for a week, but well in advance.

I then think that I changed the normal price before the scheduled sale price came into effect.

now that is something that could happen to a dumbass like me who can’t remember when they did what and change their mind about stuff all the time

just adding my two cents – not any help but it might prompt an idea.

Back before woocommerce added in shipping zones you could use a shipping class as a way to do this, but it was ugly work around. However, it all seems like a dream now and I was doing so much testing I may have got confused as whether this worked or not.

but if I remember if you had the multiple packages pluging configured shipping class and call it local pick up with zero fee.

A vendor could add a product and choose there shipping fee through pro shipping module as normal – they could then if they wanted choose the local pick up shipping class in the wcvendors form, which picked up the shipping class

and on check out you could have each vendor with the option of local pick up or shipping.

However, this is all moot now as about a week later shipping zones were introduced and have not been able to figure out a way to do it yet.

but, as I say at one point I swear it was done.

    hi jamie

the cloned site i use really has been abused so I don’t know what I’ve done with it. I was sort of just reporting that message rather than trying to interpret it or say anything about it. Thought it might be helpful as snapshot of something.

I will do a fresh install shortly but even that’s not as straightforward for me anymore, as I think my cloned sites images are linked to the real site through a cloud based plugin. So if I delete the cloned site, the product images on the real site will disappear! Typical!

disabled all plugins – still same message no shipping available on checkout

    disabled theme – as above

    Hi Anna

I was not ignoring you in the conversation I thought it was more programming related and just wanted a bit of assurance.

I have no real concerns, just doing my research about something new

However, for clarities sake let me explain my thinking.

On the one hand, at the top of this topic we are informed, and I paraphrase that the wordpress permissions for the media editor are either one or all

we then get a plugin that seemingly allows for the media editor to be accessed by each vendor and resolves the issue that the topic was raised for.

However, it is using a role editor to assign different permissions to a user’s role. Again, from my limited reading around and own experience this can be a bit dangerous, especially for the novice. And no one wants to change something that may potential leave a hole in their website.

    thats all I was saying.

AND im not sure it does change the name. it seemingly does in the media editor but when I load the page and click image properties it is still saying the old name of the uploaded media. I will have a play around and see if its my set up.

this one is elsas – however, from my point of view, I just want to add functionality that I think users come to expect and being able to name their photos on upload is one. I wasn’t asking for anything but an opinion of what you thought of this plugin if you got a chance to look at it.

This is just speaking conversationally I am confused by your answer ben. I totally agree with you that if the jobs been done well by another plugin there’s no reason why you should have to spend time coding yours. However, my point on this occasion was I felt like this was a BIG plugin to do this job. They look like serious coders with big reviews and big installs, but personally, I feel like I’m installing a powerful plugin to get one feature that might be better served another way. Although, like you said this is a nifty find and it might be more useful down the line.

    Hmmmmmm this is interesting.

I’ve just installed the pods plugin that @thivinglocally mentioned and indeed it does allow the vendor to change picture titles and descriptions.

We all know @Ben and @Jamie can’t program every bit of functionality into wcvendors but it would be nice to get their opinion of this plugin to see if it has been coded well enough to avoid assigning control or pitfalls somewhere to vendors that we non-programmers can’t see/understand.

Obviously, we all have to be wary of powerful plugin such as this one, and if truth be told I would rather not have this installed and edit stuff I don’t really get but I think it an important feature to have, especially if we can get better seo and allow screen readers to better understand the web pages.

whilst I know you’re all incredibly busy I would like to hear your thoughts about it.

This is the pro forum and it’s probably a good idea if you install the free version and have a play around before requesting support on this particular forum.

alternatively, read the knowledgebase for setup.

    in reply to: Alive #54048

Gerard, I am a user like you but I will take a bit of time to see if I can help

Firstly I’m going to defend the support team as there are a lot of duplicated questions and dare I say demands for help before proper diagnostics have been done.

The prerequisites are there to eliminate obvious errors that may be caused by other plugins and themes and even if the conflict is caused by the wcvendors plugin, it’s great to come to the party saying, “hey i did this and that and I think there is a bug between this plugin and yours”.

I am quite lucky in one respect as I only found free a few weeks before pro was released so I’ve got used to pro, also I have a bit of computer type experience. I think many are coming into the marketplace game with little experience of websites or WordPress and are conflating different aspects with one another.

An analogy would be this. When your marketplace is up and running and one of your sellers sells me something, would it be right for me to contact you saying “hey this item I’ve bought off your site is the wrong size can you send me out a new one” It’s your site you own it and are the administration, but the seller is a plugin, written by someone else.

Anyway on to the help part

    Here’s what I do

    1) I have a clone of the website that I can use to do all my testing on. Good web hosts allow you to have a development site that will allow you to publish your edits to the live server (believe me this is awesome, as I was originally editing the live site)

2)you must test any problem with 4 things running. The WordPress theme storefront and the 3 plugins you need to run the marketplace. a) woocommerce b) wcvendors free c)wcvendors pro (in that order if you are using pro)

    3) wcvendors pro can’t work without free being installed and running.

    4) configuration and understanding
because wcvendors free is a standalone plugin it has a dashboard and pages to get set up and running a marketplace for free. It’s pretty awesome that you can actually do it all for free if you wanted.

Buying the pro plugin gives you a lot more functions and professionalism. But it also then has to provide additional pages and configuration settings and this does cause some confusion.

So there is a dashboard for free and there is a dashboard for pro but once you get your head round that they are separate pages for the reasons mentioned above, it becomes clear.

After that, there is the playing around configuring and working out what you want to do. Technically, I don’t’ know what you want help with as it’s not listed above and I don’t know what you asked for before, but if you break it down to the above four components and tell me what issue your facing will see if we can get you up and running.

    remember plan for success. 🙂
