Thanks, Anna. I’m using OneSocial. I know I haven’t modified any templates. Do you know if they did? And if so, what do I do to fix this? Should I contact BB?

Here’s what I’m seeing on my site:

When the vendor clicks on the Shipped button it takes him to this page:

    Mark Shipped button

Note the url on that page

To me, that looks like the email template that goes to the customer ???

But when the vendor goes back to to the Orders page it still shows Not Shipped. I’ve tried refreshing, and leaving the page, but it stays on Not shipped.

Deleted all unnecessary plug-ins and that didn’t help.

The customer does NOT receive a Your Order Has Shipped email. BUT..

If the vendor adds a customer NOTE to the order, the customer does receive the NOTE email.

THEN, if the vendor marks the order shipped, the customer receives another copy of the NOTE email.

    Results

When the vendor adds a tracking number he’s sent to this same page, pictured above, but the link is http://thcmmarketplace.com/dashboard/order/ Then he has to click to go back to his dashboard.

The customer does receive the email with the tracking number and the tracking number does show up on Admin page for that order.

The only thing I’ve changed on the site recently is the addition of Jetpack on 4/3 and that’s when the first vendor contacted me to let me know they couldn’t use the mark shipped button, so I’m thinking Jetpack is the problem. But I disabled it and that didn’t help.

At that same time I also deactivated a lot of the Buddypress features because the vendors don’t want customers to be able to contact them directly. But that wouldn’t have any affect on WCV emails, would it???

@Anna Hi Anna 🙂 Were you ever able to find out what’s happening here? My vendors are having this same problem. It’s happening with the Send Tracking Number, too. Customers are getting both emails but it’s not staying as “shipped’ on the dashboard.

We had this same problem and I found a way to quickly resolve it. Every morning I go in and delete all images that were added that don’t meet our site specifications. When they see all those images disappear they learn pretty quickly that they need to follow our rules.

You can do this very easily – Just go to admin dash, then go to the Enter New Product page. Click the Add Media button and you’ll see all the images in your site’s library. Click on each image and you’ll see its size and specs. Then you can delete if it doesn’t conform. You can check a few hundred images in just a few minutes.

@Aaron Roessler – It’s kind of hard to explain how we work. On our site the average product price is around $2.50. Customers often buy multiples of a single item and multiple items from multiple vendors on each order. After shipping and handling and then selling fees, there also isn’t much single-item-profit left over for the vendor. (They do make this up in quantity, though.)

To encourage more vendors to join us we don’t charge our vendors anything other than a selling fee. Even though we use Paypal Micropayments program to lower our Paypal fees, with commissions set at 10% we were only making about 6% of sales.

I know it sounds confusing but trust me – I have notebooks full of the math we did trying to come up with some way to pull more profit out of this.

Our solution was to charge a set selling fee PER ITEM with an increase at every $7. For example, if a customer bought one item for $2.50 the selling fee would be $.42. If they bought 2 of the same item, the selling fee is $.84. If the item is $7 – $13.99, the selling fee is $.84, etc. You can actually see our selling fee structure here – http://thcmmarketplace.com/vendor-terms-and-conditions/

This set-up doubled our profit but I had to manually look at every order that came in (a few hundred a week) and keep a spreadsheet showing how many items and how many $.42 selling fees for each vendor every week, because the selling fee varies depending on the price of the product. VERY time consuming!

Due to site issues not related to the commission structure we hired Ben and Jaime to do some clean-up work on the site and while I was talking to Ben I mentioned our commission structure. It had never occurred to me that what I was doing manually could be handled automatically with a bit of code and I never even thought to ask about it. Our site is weird – I have to find a work-around with almost every plug-in we use.

But as soon as I told Ben what I was doing he was like, “Hey! I can fix that for you!” And in about 30 minutes he did LOL Now it’s all automated. I haven’t looked at a single order since February 🙂

Since we were paying for Ben and Jaime’s assistance I don’t know if I should share the code here but I’m guessing they watch the forum. If they say it’s OK to share I’ll post it here. It’s really just a very little bit of code they put in the php file. I don’t know how it works and I will NEVER touch it but … thank God for Ben and Jaime!

Finally had a chance to try this and it worked like a charm!

We’re using the BUddyboss One Social theme so I just went into Buddyboss > One Social Theme > Custom Codes tab and enabled custom CSS, then added both of the lines of code you mentioned above. Super easy fix. Our vendors are gonna love this!

Personally, I won’t use any theme that can only be purchased at Envato, no matter how nice it looks. Might as well buy a theme from some gonzo on Ebay. After they’ve made a few sales the developer disappears and support becomes non-existent. Compatibility updates? Hahahaaaaaa! And forget about filing a complaint with Envato. They’ll either ignore it or block your IP.

Hi Ben, I’ll have to wait and test late tonight/early tomorrow morning while there’s no traffic on the site. But yeah, I’ll try disabling Marketplace and OneSocial and see what happens.

We did have a OneSocial update and a Marketplace update at the same time as the WCVendors so that might be what happened. I’ll keep you posted 🙂

Thanks Ben, that’s the only thing they’re still asking for. I’ll let everybody know it’s still out there. And yes, site is running so smoothly now I don’t even like to talk about it because I don’t want to jinx anything LOL Although, we do have a HUGE new problem now…

I have so much free time now so I’m baking cookies for my grandkids every day! If I don’t find a new hobby soon we’re all gonna need to join Weight Watchers! LOL

    @Matt
Lawson – Because of the products we sell and the quantity of listings each vendor has we’d need the full bulk-edit capabilities. Being able to Delete would be really helpful, but they also need to be able to edit visibility, price, inventory info, etc.

As Ben and Jaime know I have no clue when it comes to coding stuff like this and I wouldn’t touch our code now if you paid me anyway. These guys worked on our site a couple of months ago and it’s amazing so I’m not taking any chances with it. This is just a minor concern in my opinion. Sales are continuing to grow at 25% a month and we’re still attracting new vendors so I’m willing to wait until WHENEVER they can get to this one 🙂

Just wanted to stop by this thread and give an update. Since posting on 11/26 there have been a lot of changes to WCV Pro. They got rid of the Vendor Stores so we don’t have that confusion to deal with. It’s now possible to disable shipping across all vendors. Both Product Description and Product Short Description are available again and lots of appearance issues have been addressed.

Some of the problems we were experiencing were theme related. (Note: I cannot stress this enough: The Bazar theme by YITH SUCKS! Their support SUCKS EVEN MORE!) Ben and Jaime recently recommended the Marketplace Theme by BuddyBoss. (I’ll let Ben add a link if he wants to.) This theme was designed to work hand-in-hand with WCV and WCV Pro. In fact, it won’t work with anything else. We’ve been testing it for a few days now and I’m very excited and pleased to say it takes care of all of our appearance issues and solves a lot of operational issues as well.

Like I’ve said before, we’re patient and willing to wait for you guys, Ben and Jaime, and you’ve never let us down 🙂 I have never once said, ‘Man, I wish we’d gone another direction.” You guys have created a wonderful product, without which our business would never be at the level it’s at today.

Yeah, and like I said it’s always Paypal’s fault The first couple of times it happened we freaked out. Now I just let it ride for a half hour or so. Usually Paypal catches up and we get hit with a pile of email notifications all at once but sometimes we have to give them a nudge by changing API creds. Just wanted George to know this problem is probably coming from Paypal 🙂

Just wanted to pop in with my 2 cents. This happens to us about once a month and it’s usually due to Paypal running an update on their site. Most of the time it corrects itself in about 20 – 30 minutes but sometimes we have to go in and change our Paypal API credentials and that fixes the problem.

    Problems with Bazar –

Products are not being removed from inventory
NO emails at all are being sent – can’t even force them out with vendor notify button

I’ve deactivated all unnecessary plugins and deleted and reinstalled all WC and WCV plugins, still didn’t work. Switched to twenty fourteen and voila – everything’s fine so it has to be theme-related.

Bazar support sucks. I takes at least 24 hours for someone to respond and their first response is always “Did you update your theme?” Each time you answer your ticket automatically goes to the bottom of the pile and it takes another 24 hours for them to ask, “Have you deactivated plugins and tested?”

Finally got one of their techs to take a look at things and he stopped right in the middle of the fix because his shift was over. Told me I have to wait until he comes back to work tomorrow but I’ll be first on the list. Yeah, he’s ‘First On My List” too. The list of people who can just kiss my …!

He told me to enable WP Debugging on the site so I did. Then he said he was getting an error message because debugging was enabled. (smh!)

He did say he was seeing this on test orders: I get the error message from the website on checkout
SyntaxError: JSON.parse: unexpected character at line 1 column 1 of the JSON data from woocommerce script

Bazar isn’t set up to update through the WP dash. Everything has to be done via FTP. No big deal but it might make a difference for some users.

OK, end of rant. I’m in the middle of paying commissions and changing my theme. Ya’ll have a great day!

I don’t know if all of this is related or not but can you please provide a download link for the previous version of Pro so I can get all of this back up again?

    Hi dymockpoet,

We do still have vendors set for manual approval but we don’t have them subscribe to our Aweber list anymore. Once we got the initial mess cleaned up and got rid of the faux vendors it was easy to keep it organized.

When I approve a vendor I bookmark their user page and file it under ‘Pending Vendors.’ Once I see them start getting sales I move their bookmark to an ‘Active Vendors’ folder. Every 4 – 6 weeks I go through the ‘Pending Vendors’ folder and either delete or change them to customer status.

I don’t have our vendors on an Aweber list but I do have a folder for them in my email account, that way I can contact one single vendor, 2 or 3 vendors or all vendors if needed. I also occasionally just add a banner to the Vendor Dash to get their attention.

in reply to: Why I'm Going Back to Free #16815
    Donna Anderson

I just wanted to add my two cents here because I’ve been thinking about temporarily going back to Free, too, for some of the same reasons as @dymockpoet. His items #1, 2 and 9 are also my concerns and it looks like you’re addressing these.

But our vendors have other issues with Pro. Our site differs from most of your other users’ sites in that many of our vendors list more than 100 new items every week, sometimes 200 or more. Our business is also time-sensitive. The faster they get those new listings up the better their sales.

I’ve been polling our vendors and here’s why they’re not using the Pro dashboard:

    1. Depending on the length of the description and the distance it will create between the listing title and the Buy button, some vendors use the Product Description box and some use the Short Description box

“The listing on the new dash was a big issue for me. Yes, the page is all laid out neat and clean, but it’s blank. Every time. I am used to using the short description, since that’s what we’ve always done, and when I went to submit the item, I got the “whoops” no description and it blanked out the whole page. Which meant retyping everything in. Not a big time saver, if you get what I mean.”

    2. It takes too much time to edit a listing and they really miss the ability to duplicate a listing.

“You can edit an item, you can create an item, but each new item is from scratch, retyping everything. I can edit a listing quicker on the old dash than going from program to program to cut/paste. I finish one, submit, hit copy listing, edit submit, etc.”

    3. No formatting available in product descriptions.

“The new dash has no type of formatting or coloring for the text. I’m guessing that’s so all will be uniform, but when listing exceptions and inclusions, it just makes sense to use bullets to make it easier for the buyer to see the terms of the coupon. I could code it manually in the new dash, but I know not everyone knows how to do that, it’s just easier to click and it changes.”

    4. No search abilities

“The new dash has absolutely no search capabilities. I actually use this feature on the dash/product listings page quite often. If I need to find a specific coupon, to either edit, change or pull it. To put them on sale when it’s getting close to the cut off time. Like for instance all the ones I have up now that expire 11/21, the other day I put that in the search bar and it allowed me to have them all on one page, nice and easy to edit.”

“I also really love the sort by insert feature on the old dash. I couldn’t find it on the new one. It’s very helpful to see if I’ve gotten all the coupons in a particular insert listed, as well as when the majority of them have expired, I can see what else I have listed, if anything, and know when I can toss the inserts without accidentally still having a listing up that I missed.”

    5. Crucial – No bulk editing!

“The new dash doesn’t have any kind of bulk editing. I use this when I end up getting more inserts and need to adjust lot quantities, as well as price changes and marking orders shipped. I also use this when I remember to delete the out of stock items, in my small attempt to help keep the site running a bit better. I don’t see any way on the new dash to even find those items unless by just scrolling and searching. Quite frankly that would take hours, and we all have better uses for our time, yourself included. :)”

    6. Data Fields – I’ve updated to 1.1.1 but we still can’t see anything that we enter in the data fields on coupon codes and some of the data fields on add product are messed up now. I haven’t tested the actual coupon codes to see if they work yet but this is something our vendors are really asking for. One of our competitors offers this feature to their vendors and that’s one of the things they look for when they check out our site.

    7. Vendor Stores doesn’t seem to be linked to Users in any way. If I delete a vendor under users > vendors I then have to go find their store and delete it, too.

    8. Crucial – Shipping – We don’t need the shipping module. I don’t have it enabled but I can’t get rid of the Shipping Tab that’s showing up under every product now. That’s just confusing the heck out of our customers!

Please note that way up there at the top I said I’m considering going back to Free temporarily. I know you guys are working your butts off on this and I know it takes time. I check this forum almost every day and every time I do I see you’re already working on something I had a question about and voila – there it is in the next update 🙂

I’m patient and I’d almost rather wait until you get further along in the development. Right now, every time Woocommerce updates I also have to update my theme and then here comes another WCVP update and there’s always something that doesn’t want to play well with others so I have to spend a day tinkering. I just want to log in every morning and sell stuff! LOL

BUT – I’m going to stick with PRO for the time being. I see you guys working on this plugin and I see the plans you have for its future. Our vendors see it as well. They’re all excited about the possibilities. They also love the fact that we’re actually working to improve the site for them because it shows we’re here for the long haul, not just some fly-by-night site. Even though it’s not everything they want right now, the progress on PRO shows them that we care about our vendors, something they don’t see with our competitors, so it’s actually a huge vendor selling point for us right now 🙂

I also understand that some of our vendor requests might not work in with your plans for the future of PRO. We are kind of an odd site and just about any plugin or program we use has to be tinkered with or parts of it ignored to work in our application. So don’t worry – we’re not looking for an end-all-be-all solution. We’re flexible 🙂

Anyway, that’s my two cents. Happy Thanksgiving (or just Happy Thursday!) And here’s to the future of WCV PRO!

OMG! I never even thought about Query Monitor. I knew it had to be something stupid messing this up because it worked for half the vendors. Thank you so much for taking care of this.

And on a side note – I know you guys have paid support. Jessica and I were wondering if you guys are available for hire when we have problems with our site that aren’t related to WCV. Our site has grown so much and it’s getting to the point where we need to have somebody technical out there we can rely on when we need help and I can’t think of anybody else I’d trust with our site other than you guys.

We’re not using any caching plugin at all, that’s one of the reasons we went to Flywheel – so they could handle the cache. Bazar put through an update last week and it caused a change in layout on the shop page. To fix it they advised deleting the style.css and custom css files inside the parent and the child themes’ cache files. I did delete those files and it corrected the layout issue but the blank pages problem is still there.

I wouldn’t mind a bit if you want to go to all that trouble but this just seems like a totally weird problem. Why would everything – WCVP, Bazar, the other plugins we’re using and Flywheel caching – work for some vendors but not all? If it all works on one page shouldn’t it work on every page? For example, there’s a footer on every single page of the website and there’s a footer on most of the vendors’ dashboards – but only SOME vendor dashboards are not pulling a footer. If that command or hook to ‘get footer’ works for one vendor it should work for all, right? It’s not like there’s a separate php for each vendor dash and some of them might be missing a line of code, they’re all controlled by the same single file.

I’ve looked at these vendors whose orders aren’t showing up and can’t find anything that they all have in common except that they’ve all had a lot of orders, measurably more orders than the vendors who are not having dash problems. Some of them have a lot of orders all the time and some of them have accumulated a lot of orders over time but that’s the only difference I see. Really scratching my head here so have at it if you want to. Just let me know what you need.

Another update: This all has something to do with my theme. I just switched to Twenty Fifteen and everything works fine. Only tested one vendor – All pages appeared, all links worked and all data fields were visible. The only things missing were the Recent Products, Orders Totals and Products Totals on the dashboard page.

So what do you think? Is this something you can help me with or should I get a different theme? And if I need to get a different theme I’m looking at Avada over at Themeforest. I saw that you guys are working with that one.

Eight of them are seeing: Can’t see entries in any of the coupon data fields, can’t see entries in Stock Quantity field on Add Product Page and the Orders and Products totals are jumbled. Screenshots:

Seven of them are seeing: Can’t see entries in any of the coupon data fields, can’t see entries in Stock Quantity field on Add Product Page; blank dashboard page except for nav bar; dashboard page has no footer and my buttons in the header have lost their color; Orders page blank with no footer. One of the vendors has a completely different view. On her dash she’s not seeing Order Totals, Product Totals or Recent products and her shop description is showing up in html:

    Sunny Savings 1

    Sunny Savings 2

    Sunny Savings 3

I know that doesn’t add up to 18, but you get the picture 🙂

I know you said this might have something to do with the number of products and orders each vendor has. Anyway, I trashed about 1500 orders yesterday to see if that would help and it didn’t. I’m sure I could go through and trash around 1000 products too but these things never affected WCV.

We currently have 3,332 orders, with 1,618 of those in Trash. We also currently have 6,626 products – 5,261 published, 1,365 Drafts and 1,825 Trash. I have trash scheduled to be deleted this weekend (gives everybody time to see if they need me to restore anything) but I can do it now if it helps.

BTW – All but one of the vendors I looked at for this list have been with us since before PRO. The one vendor who started after PRO was installed falls into that first group of 8 up above.

And yes, I have a list of what I’m seeing in on each vendor’s dash if you’d like names.

Were you guys just working in my site? It’s not a problem but my homepage just went blank and one of my vendors just emailed me to say she got the flywheel log-in screen when she tried to log in. Just wanted to know if it’s you or if I have gremlins 🙂

Oh, I know – Most of the stuff I’m seeing is small and it’s already been reported. I’ll come back and add some screenshots to help define ‘wonky’ LOL

No, haven’t touched the templates. What browser are you using because some vendors are reporting problems trying to create coupon codes in Chrome. I’m having problems with this description thing when I use FF. And I’m also seeing a couple of styling issues in FF that don’t appear on Chrome – the vendor location and phone are wonky and on the add product screen the text boxes are all scrunched up. I’ve been waiting to see what happens with the next update or two before I bring any problems to you guys. Most of them are tiny, already on the forum somewhere and you’re addressing them so I figure all the little bugs will get ironed out eventually.
