How to reorder fields on your vendor registration form

Want new vendors to enter their store name before their phone number, or move the payout details field further down the page? WC Vendors Signup‘s registration form builder lets you drag and drop fields into whatever order works best for your marketplace, no code required. Here’s how to reorder registration fields in a few clicks, plus what to check if a reorder doesn’t save.

Before you begin

You’ll need:

  • WC Vendors Marketplace installed and active
  • WC Vendors Signup installed and active
  • An admin account with the Shop manager or Administrator role

WC Vendors Signup comes with a default set of registration fields (like Email Address, Password, and Store Name), so there’s nothing extra to set up before you start reordering. WC Vendors Pro is optional. It’s only needed for advanced field mapping, not for moving fields around.

Reorder fields on the registration form

  1. In your WordPress dashboard, go to WC Vendors > Settings, then click the Registration Form tab.

  1. On the Registration Form Settings screen, click the Form Fields tab in the left-hand menu.

  1. Find the field you want to move, and hover over the drag handle icon in the first column of its row.

  1. Click and hold the drag handle, then drag the row up or down to its new position in the list.

  1. Release the mouse button to drop the field into place. WC Vendors Signup saves the new order right away, and you’ll see a Settings saved successfully notification in the top right corner.

  1. Repeat for any other fields you want to move, then open your vendor registration page to check the new order.

If you haven’t set up a registration page yourself, WC Vendors Signup automatically creates a Vendor Registration page for you when the plugin is activated, using the [wcv_registration_form] shortcode.

Troubleshooting

Dragging a field doesn’t move it

Make sure you’re clicking on the drag handle icon, or the field’s Label, ID, or Type cell, not the Enabled/Required switches or the edit and delete icons in the Actions column. Those are separate controls and won’t start a drag.

The new order doesn’t stick after I refresh the page

This usually means the save request failed. WC Vendors Signup requires the Shop manager or Administrator role to save changes, so check your user role first. If you see a red error notification right after dropping a field, that also points to a failed save, try the reorder again once your permissions are confirmed.

I can’t delete a field, only move it

WC Vendors Signup’s built-in fields (Email Address, Username, Password, First Name, Last Name, Store Name, Address, Phone, Payout Method, and Store Website) can’t be deleted, since removing them could break the vendor onboarding flow. You can still reorder them, and turn most of them on or off, just not delete them.

Frequently asked questions

Does reordering fields change anything for vendors who already registered?
No. Reordering only affects what new visitors see on the registration form going forward. It doesn’t touch data already submitted by existing vendors.

Does this also reorder fields on the vendor login form?
No. The Form Fields tab only controls field order on the registration form. The login form isn’t built with the same drag-and-drop field builder.
