ParticipantWhen vendors are selecting a category to assign a product to the drop down has every main category and sub category there is to select which creates a long confusing list. I want vendors to be able to select the main category their product will go in with a second option after they select the main category with a list of the sub categories of that main category only not all categories in one big mess of a selection. Is there a plugin that can provide this or does wc vendors do this and i just cant figure it out. Attatching two images of what i am talking about and trying to do.

Participant@Asportsman I’m looking to implement something similar but have not yet researched it much so I will be curious on the feedback you get back.
It would also be helpful if there was a “most used” filter as the majority of vendors are going to be setting up listings that are almost always in the same categories. I think this would be a useful feature as well.

ParticipantI am also interested on this. I have hundreds of categories and it’s getting impossible to find the category with checkboxes or list.

ParticipantWe actually already have the code for something like this. This would be a direct file overwrite of your wc-vendors-pro plugin folder. I cant remember what version the php files are for though they might be a bit outdated now but the code’s in there.

ParticipantHello Anna / Ben,
Any solution yet to the Issues regarding the dropdown list of Category and subcategories on product listing page?
Please, I’m interested for a solution because the long list of Categories and subcategories are driving my few Vendors crazy. I had to go in and change edit every single product the seller listed because she was confused withe the many categories. Thanks

ParticipantI paid someone to do this for me and it works flawlessly. I don’t know if this is what you all are looking for but if you go to my site https://www.anythingsportsman.com sign up to become a vendor and go to add product you can see my solution to it, as I to had the same problem with vendors.

ParticipantHi Adam,
Please, let me know how I can reach your developer, he did a great job. Or I can share your cost if you ‘ll transfer the customized code to my site – I’m a coding illiterate 😉Regards

We are all waiting to hear from you 😉December 6, 2016 at 6:18 pm #49549Thomas
ParticipantHi Adam
Site looks good and your solution is exactly what I’ve been trying to work on. I seem to have the same issue as a lot of others which is a way of breaking up the categories. Even one level of sub categories would be a good start.
If there is any insight or help you can give on how to achieve what you’ve been able to it would be massively appreciated!
Thanks
Tom

ParticipantI ( I – meaning hired someone) have completed the customization of the Product Category Selection” and it look and works superbly as @ asportman’s.
There is one minor negative to this customization- If you want your sellers to be able to List product(s) on multiple categories and sub-categories this might not work for you as customized, but my developer is looking for a solution to make multi category selection possible.December 15, 2016 at 11:18 am #50404Anna

ParticipantSorry it has taken so long yet again. Been out of town for two weeks. When i updated my wc vendors plugin it overwrites the code, talking to the developers now about it, another solution i suppose would be to save the code and just add it everytime you uptdate. I think its in my functions.php but i dont know, working on that so i can get the code. Thanks and sorry again!

ParticipantHas anyone got a solution or code to this problem?
Would complete my site if I am honest!

MemberHello,
This is a feature we do not have at this time, but perhaps int he future we will be putting in a different category selection tool.
WooCommerce product listing also does not have this type of category selection you are seeking.People have talked about getting this done- then they vaporize. OS I am not sure if anyone has yet accomplished this.
Honestly I do not know who drills down super-finite levels of categories when shopping– but maybe some people do.

ParticipantThanks Anna,
Appreciate it.
Will look for a developer to help with coding it in for me.

Participanthello @ Michael and Anna,
I was able to get this done. I hired I developer who completed it and it works perfectly. If you re interested – contact me at hawkinsorji@gmail.com if you want to take a look and see if my solution will work for you.February 12, 2017 at 1:19 pm #55883February 12, 2017 at 1:56 pm #55885February 20, 2017 at 3:58 pm #56939Adam
ParticipantI finally got the directions on how to update this and where to find it in my files, I dont know if anyone else got the solution. I have the files, and know where the code is, can’t interpret it the slightest bit but it works. @ben and @fervous is there a way to incorporate this in wc vendors pro so I or anyone else who wants to use it doesn’t have to upload files ect. and it just be part of wc vendors? I dont know if @orjense solution is better. But i would like to give all the code for anyones need. Sorry this took so long to get, my developers / coders are overseas and very hard to coordinate with. Again sorry to all let me know if anyone or yall would like it.

ParticipantHi Adam
Thank you so much! The code worked great. I was able to extract the code from the files you provided and drop it in to my v1.3.9 files without any issues at all. A few tweaks to the template and it should be looking good.
Thanks again

ParticipantHi all, been following this for a while, thank you to @ASPORTSMAN for allowing us to sign up as vendors on your site to have a play 🙂
I’m looking to be able to select more than one top level category and sub categories. Has anyone managed to find a solution to this yet?
Many thanks for your help,
Karen

ParticipantI had more of a play with this and found that a couple of the sub categories drop down boxes hung around after you changed from one category to another. Even if one category didn’t have as many subcategories. However, this is only on the test site where I have loads of plugin running at the same time and not got round to finding the conflicts that might be causing that. I’m with conscious at the minute. This is great to have, and I mean it, but I do like to be able to choose more than one category at a time.
February 24, 2017 at 7:44 am #57454Adam
Participant@CONSCIOUS-CRAFTIES can you send me that email again, accidently deleted it. Also if you want to look at how something is done in a drop down style where you can select multiple things from the list i believe that if you go to conservation events and add one it is like that in their. There isn’t multiple sub categories though. But can give you an idea.

ParticipantHey guys, I know I’m a bit late to this party, but this thread was brought to my attention by another user. I’ve had a marketplace with WC Vendors for a couple years, and we developed our own solution. Recently the developer and I decided to start marketing some of the plugins we built for our marketplace, and this was the first on our list (since it was a huge hassle always moving product categories).
This google drive link is to a short screen capture showing how the plugin works, how you can “step back” a selection and how to remove a category if you want to totally remove it.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B3f1i-DfhXE7am9ZQUlyVFo0ODA/view
On the admin side, you can allow vendors to select as many category strings as they like. You can force them to either select the deepest/most granular option within the category string, or allow them to stop selecting at any point down the string. It also gives you the ability to enable a “search” as they are selecting their categories.
To see more screen shots, or read about the plugin, you can go to http://www.ThePluginPros.com.
Ben/Anna/Jamie, hopefully I’m not breaking any rules by posting this. If so, I apologize!
Thanks
