Casual feedback needed. Im stuck between two options.

My marketplace has searchable products of course. Im wondering if I should continue going down the ACF path or use Woo Attributes?

What do you do in your stores?

    The pro’s / con’s of each are

    – The disadvantage/advantages with Woo Attributes is they aren’t category/taxonomy based so EVERY product gets the same attribute chouse (confusing for the store owners) and the way they are added in the front end screen on WC Vendors is complex for my users (little old ladies and non technical people),

. . . but the advantage is native support it’s woo so it displays very well, has loadsa plugin support and is future ready/easy to index)

    – The disadvantage/advantages with ACF is that they display terribly in the store product page and it’s not really futureproof/it’s not native woo (I haven’t tried hard yet though)

. . . . but the advantage is that they can be category based “hooray” and the front end entry is “ok”

Thoughts? What would you do/what do you do?

One of our members here wrote an automatic ACF integration plugin that will be released pretty soon. If you want to try it out just reply to your Pro order confirmation and ask for it, I’ll send it along. I havent tested it, but it looks complete. 🙂

    Hi Ben and Derek,

Thanks so much for taking the time to put the plug-in together, and as a long-standing fan of ACF and having a need to add custom fields to the WCV Pro product entry form, I thought I’d give this a whirl once Ben very kindly sent me the files!

I’m running ACF Pro v5.3.8.1 (latest) and the latest versions of WCV and WCV Pro, but sadly, even though I’ve created a Filed Group for WooCommerce products, the fields aren’t appearing in the “Product Edit” form on the front-end, so vendors cannot add the information. I can see the div with the id of “poststuff” that the plug-in adds, but it’s empty!

Any idea what I’m doing wrong, or is the plug-in not compatible with ACF Pro?

I will very much look forward to hearing from you with any thoughts you might have!

    Alex

    Hi Ben,

No worries! Don’t worry as I know the plug-in we’re talking about here wasn’t developed by you guys!

I must admit, ACF has totally rocked my WordPress world for the last 3 years (used to be a big proponent of the awesome WP Alchemy too before I found out about it), and if you haven’t tried it, do give it a go at some stage if you have the inclination to do so; to say it streamlines any kind of custom data-entry is pure understatement 🙂

    Alex
