I was hoping that v1.03 would have brought some changes to the way category is picked on the add product page.

If we have lots of categories and sub categories, it is quite confusing for the vendor. for e.g i have category Women with sub cats shoes and watches and then i have category Men with sub cats shoes and watches. IF the vendor pick women cats first, he would not know the sub cat ‘shoes’ belong to which parent category.
Can you tell us where to edit the add product page? for e.g where it says categories i would like to add a text “choose sub cats first and the main categories last)”. or maybe in next version when we choose a category, the option remains in the drop down

Does anyone have a better workaround to avoid confusion for the vendor?

I have also tried another approach. For e.g you run a site with lots of different type of products, lets say you got clothes, Shoes, electronics, Furniture etc. Instead of having sub categories like clothes: jeans, top, blouse, jacket etc. You create attributes and filters. So the vendor chooses the category (in other words the department store), for e.g clothes or shoes (as category) and then for the attribute section he has clothes: jeans, jacket etc (as variables) and for shoes: flat shoes, heels, etc So a shoe vendor will be concerned with just the shoes attribute where a furniture vendor will look at furniture attribute and ignore the others.

That is less confusing for the vendor when adding a product but you will be limited in category navigation if you use the woo category filter. You will have to build your sub menu items with filters.

I would like to know how users with lots of cats and sub cats dealing with that?

Thanks for your constructive feedback on that. We’re always looking into ways to improve!

In order to add/edit text on the add/edit product page, you would copy:

    /wp-content/plugins/wc-vendors-pro/templates/dashboard/product-edit.php

    to:

    /wp-content/themes/YOURTHEME/wc-vendors/dashboard/product-edit.php

……and edit away! You’ll see the category object is on line # 42, so adding your text above or below that would be just fine. 🙂

Yes that is possible, like having he home improvement category, and its subs can be, interior designs, furniture and its inner-subs can be table, chairs, windows and doors.

Siloynet, have you figured out the best way to handle the categories? I’m looking at the same problems as you mentioned.

    Thanks.

    @digitalchild,

I’ve been in contact with Amit Kumar via Facebook. He’s willing to share the code with you, but asks what you can offer him for the code? He says he spent quite some time on it.

He asked me for $75 to get the raw code to implement in my website, but he had to edit the core files of WCV so that will only work till your next update.

Ofcourse i’m wiling to pay with you for this to get implemented asap.

Please let me know how Amit can get in contact with you or please contact him on facebook: https://www.facebook.com/amitpammu

    Thanks!

We’ll be publishing Pro v1.4.0 pretty soon. So, if you want something to get added to it — now is the time. 🙂 When your developer is done with the code you want added, send it to us and we’ll implement it if able to and reasonably necessary

Hey Guys, I have checked that code before and it was not for multi category selection. Is there a way to make it multi selection? If so I am willing to pay too, thanks!

    Has anybody heard from @amitpammu?

I’d also be happy to pay to have this in the Vendor Dashboard.

Either that or a function that allows you to do in the Vendor Dashboard what the WordPress plugin “Parent Category Toggler” allows you to do in regular WooCommerce – when you click on a child category it automatically ticks all the parent categories of that child.
