Hi Ben,
This morning I’ve installed WC Vendors Pro in my new hosting. I have make sure that it has PHP 5.4+, GD, and ImageMagick. However, when I want to activate the WC Vendors Pro License, It says “Exceeded Maximum Number of Activations”.
Any help?
Thanks
November 4, 2015 at 12:08 am #13829WC Vendors SupportParticipanthttp://www.wcvendors.com/my-account/ deactivate it there and then activate it on your site. That’s what the link to on the license page is for. 🙂
February 9, 2016 at 8:09 am #23511Kristin BrauseParticipantHello Martin, I have the same problem, did it work for you to activate it? What does Ben mean with ‘deactivate it on your account’. I only have a ‘delete’ button on my account page.
Many thanks,
KrisFebruary 9, 2016 at 10:15 am #23518WC Vendors SupportParticipantDelete/Deactivate, same thing. You’re basically deleting/deactivating the license key for the site that is shown. Once that’s done, your license key can be used again.
February 9, 2016 at 10:23 am #23519Kristin BrauseParticipantThanks Ben, I deleted it on my account and entered the API license key at my wp-admin/settings/ WC vendor pro license. Although I got green ticked boxes behind the API and the email, it still says status: deactivated.
Checking back at my account, there is no license active 0 out of 1.What is going on? Why did it stop working in the first place, any idea?
Thanks,
KrisFebruary 9, 2016 at 10:27 am #23520WC Vendors SupportParticipantWhen you reactivated the plugin when it crapped out on you, the license key failed. No biggie, it happens. Nothing to lose sleep over. 🙂 Wait a few hours and enter your license key again on the activation page on your website. You should be good. If not, I’m here to help.
February 9, 2016 at 10:31 am #23522Kristin BrauseParticipantThank you, I appreciate it 🙂
But I didnt do anything. All I did was trying to log in to my website this morning and got the server error 500 message. The host lady told me there was a missing plugin, which turned out to be WC vendor. She then deactivated WC Vendor Pro in order for me to at least log in to my wp-admin dashboard. Then I downloaded the WC vendor plug in and thats when I discovered my license key for Pro doesnt work.
But what cause the plug in to crash my site? Can I prevent this in the future or do these things just happen?
Kris
February 9, 2016 at 10:34 am #23523WC Vendors SupportParticipantPro v1.2.2 requires Free v1.8.6 to run. You probably had the latest free activated, but not the latest Pro, or some variation of it. That’s the only thing that would cause that error.
When your webhosting company manually deactivated the plugin, it didnt automatically deactivate your license key which does happen when you normally deactivate Pro. As such, the key gets stuck in limbo and needs resetting.
Can you prevent this in the future? Sure. Keep up to date on updates regularly. When you see one, install it. 🙂 Some webmasters like to wait a while and do them all at once. Bad idea. Always stay current! 🙂
February 9, 2016 at 10:40 am #23524Kristin BrauseParticipantThanks for explaining!
I always do my updates tho! I cant stand it seeing that little number next to plugin. And I also do know that I need my WC Vendor to be up to date in order for my PRO to work (you told me that before 😉 )
Thats why I dont understand what happened and wouldnt know what else to do in order to prevent it.
I guess, I just wait for the license key to go back to normal. If you want, I screen grabbed the error log from my cpanel, maybe that holds a clue (obviously not for me 😉 ) but of course I would send that in a different private message, not here since I am not the admin (you see, I am learning).
February 9, 2016 at 11:25 am #23531WC Vendors SupportParticipantWe know the error, it was fixed in v1.2.2 of Pro. 🙂 🙂 🙂
February 9, 2016 at 2:23 pm #23561Kristin BrauseParticipantIt is still not working, it has been over 4 hours now. have restarted, logged out and back in a couple of times. Is that still within reason?
Thanks Ben,
KrisFebruary 9, 2016 at 2:27 pm #23564WC Vendors SupportParticipantI must have magic fingers.
Plugin activated. 0 out of 1 activations remaining.
I deleted the key/email you had in there, and re-entered it from your order receipt, and clicked save. Voila, activated!
Now go update to Pro v1.2.2. 🙂 🙂 🙂
February 9, 2016 at 2:32 pm #23566Kristin BrauseParticipantYes I just noticed that it works but my website is still not showing. I did the update for PRO but no website. After the license had been activated it tried to load the website but nothing, and the license key got deactivated again.
Something is acting really strange..February 9, 2016 at 2:35 pm #23568WC Vendors SupportParticipantThe license shows as activated to me.
Your homepage ( and other pages like /basket/ ) do appear to be failing.
When that happens, often times the websites error_log will show you a PHP error or something. What does your webservers error_log say at the end?
February 9, 2016 at 2:36 pm #23569Kristin BrauseParticipantMy whole theme is gone, its says
ERROR: The theme directory “galleria” does not exist.
What is going on? How can it all be gone or changed?
Do I have to start over with everything? Any idea what caused this? How am I gonna be able to run a marketplace with people on it if this weird stuff keep happening? Do you understand what is happening?
🙁
February 9, 2016 at 2:37 pm #23570Kristin BrauseParticipantYou mean the error message I got this morning? Only Server error 500
February 9, 2016 at 2:39 pm #23571WC Vendors SupportParticipantHow can you run a marketplace? Very easily. You can do it. The problem you have now is not WC Vendors, so please, no blame on me for this one. 😉
I just loaded Appearance > Themes and do see too that your theme page shows that error. Did you look in /wp-content/themes/ to see if the theme folder is there? If it isn’t, you’ll want to restore it from backup. The bigger question is, though, why is it missing? Did your webhosting company do something? Themes don’t just delete themselves, someone had to do it, your webhost, you, perhaps even a hacker. I’d be leaning more towards the webhosting company when they were running around disabling things, but that’s just a speculation guess.
February 9, 2016 at 2:41 pm #23572WC Vendors SupportParticipantBTW — You said your host said “The host lady told me there was a missing plugin, which turned out to be WC vendor.”
Perhaps there IS a hacker on your site deleting things? Plugins don’t just disappear, neither do themes. Someone had to actually delete it.
February 9, 2016 at 2:44 pm #23573Kristin BrauseParticipantNo, not blaming you at all, just asking if you can shed some light on this because I have absolutely no idea what is going on! Everything is gone and acting strange.
I dont know, the hosting company is hard to talk to, they seem clueless and not helpful. According to them its a plugin issue. But I can only talk to them via chat, and to be honest, not getting much support.
I wouldnt even know how to delete a theme, and I just had configured everything and set up to my liking so definitely not me.
I ll get in touch with them again, but it can take a ages for them to get back to me.
February 9, 2016 at 2:48 pm #23574Kristin BrauseParticipantWhat do I do?
February 9, 2016 at 2:53 pm #23575WC Vendors SupportParticipantThe parts that stick out to me is that WC Vendors (Free) was “missing” and so is your theme. The cause of this, I have no idea. We don’t delete things, themes dont delete things. Only admins, webhosting companies, server crashes/problems, or a malicious hacker can delete things.
Galleria is a Storefront child theme, isn’t it? I dont even see Storefront installed on your site. There are zero themes in your /wp-content/themes/ folder. You would want to upload the storefront theme, galleria, and any child themes you used and then re-activate the right theme to get your website to load on the front end again.
Here’s some useful tips:
1.) Keep a backup plugin handy and back your site up every day or every few days, all up to you. I use Duplicator, it works well, and I love it. (Free)
2.) Install a security plugin, such as iThemes Security or WordFence.
3.) Install the plugin “User Login Log” ( https://wordpress.org/plugins/user-login-log/ ) to keep a record of who logs into your site. If you see someone that isnt your IP login as you, you’ve got an issue. (Of course remember, *I* login as you, so if you see a Florida IP, that’s me! But I only login when you tell me to or have a confusing problem, I have no reason to ever login to your website at any other times, and I would never do so either).
You dont have to restore your database, I’d just restore your theme folder.
A final PS — We offer webhosting, it’s $250 per year, paid up front. You get me as your webhosting support. If you like the speed of wcvendors.com, you’ll have the same speed on your site as well. It’s expensive, but for a reason — It’s not a shared webserver. It’s a 32 core Dual Xeon with 128GB of memory and 8 RAID1+0 hard drives for speed and backups. It’s a monster powerhouse. We don’t advertise the hosting, but we offer it when we feel someone is not using their existing hosting company to their advantage or their existing hosting company sucks (as it seems yours does). Support via email or Skype, whatever works for ya’.
February 9, 2016 at 2:56 pm #23576Kristin BrauseParticipantthats what I see, it says ‘False’ everywhere, that is to weird, isnt it?
February 9, 2016 at 2:57 pm #23578WC Vendors SupportParticipantFalse isnt weird. That’s expected. The theme files are not present on your webserver, so it cant read them, and returns false.
Re-upload your themes! 🙂
February 9, 2016 at 2:59 pm #23579Kristin BrauseParticipantAnd then reconfigure everything? I ll wait for the hosting company to see if they can install a backup.
This is so unnerving.. 🙁February 9, 2016 at 3:07 pm #23580WC Vendors SupportParticipantYour theme options are not stored in php files. Your theme options are stored in the database. Your database is fine. You just need to upload the theme and child themes again. Then, everything *should* work just fine.
Fixing it is easy. MY big question — why were all these directories deleted in the first place? That’s my “WTF?”
February 9, 2016 at 3:16 pm #23581Kristin BrauseParticipantHello, sorry only saw your long message now.
That is so scary, not knowing what is going on or what/ who is causing this.
Thank you so much for the useful tips, I will follow thru with them all of them and yes, I would love to use you guys webhosting, especially since you are always helping me.
How do I move server?Just got your second message now. Why were all these directories deleted in the first place? Yes that is my big question too, that’s my massive”WTF?” too.
It was all working fine on friday for sure, and sat I think. Then I didnt check on sunday or monday as I had other things to do.
I noticed the site was really slow and I was gonna get in touch with the hosting company but now its all gone, so no need to inquire low speed.
Ok, so according to what you are saying, I just need to upload my theme Galleria again and Storefront. So strange that its all gone.
Just talking to BlueHost now, they are saying: Yes it looks like the plugin is posing an issue here. That is the reason for the error here.
Will keep you posted.
February 9, 2016 at 3:18 pm #23582WC Vendors SupportParticipantBlueHost! Eew. Run from them as fast as you can. They were good a few years ago, now, they are dog piss.
Upload Galleria and Storefront, then activate Galleria and you should be good to go.
Moving to us for webhosting is pretty easy. I can move your entire site for you in about an hour. Reply privately with your Skype username and we can get started whenever you are ready.
February 9, 2016 at 3:22 pm #23583Kristin BrauseParticipantThe hosting company just keeps saying: ‘The plugins have been automatically updated and hence the error.’
February 9, 2016 at 3:22 pm #23584Kristin BrauseParticipantWC vendor PRO
February 9, 2016 at 3:38 pm #23586Kristin BrauseParticipantThe guy is still working on it but he keeps saying: ‘The plugin has caused the site go down.’
Happy to move server, really unhappy with the support. My skypename should be kristinbrause (never use it) whats yours?
February 9, 2016 at 4:03 pm #23589WC Vendors SupportParticipantadding you now! I’m off with my wife and kid to eat some dinner, but I’ll be back on in about 90 minutes.
PS — BlueHosts’ latest reply shows their idiocracy. Morons. Absolute morons.
February 9, 2016 at 4:07 pm #23590Kristin BrauseParticipantHe says:’ The file permissions were not exactly as it should be.’
But now he has passed me on to a new agent as he is working under strict time frames and cant talk longer than a certain time, so strange. In the meantime he deactivated all my plugins. I am currently hanging in the loop, waiting to be connected to somebody new.
Screengrab shows my site now.
Enjoy dinner! Speak later if you are still around.
Thanks, Kris
February 21, 2016 at 5:16 pm #24555pliwiParticipantIn our account we´ve a ¨Delete botton¨ in this website but doesn´t work, i can´t press this botton, do you have another option???
February 21, 2016 at 5:42 pm #24559WC Vendors SupportParticipant@pliwi I’ve manually deleted your activation, give it a try now!
May 9, 2017 at 4:11 pm #64719Bridget AntwiParticipantHi,
I’m having the same issue (Exceeded Maximum Number of Activations)
I’m trying to follow your instructions above (deactivate it there and then activate it on your site) but I don’t have a deactivate/delete button on my wc vendors account.
Can you manually delete my activation?
Thanks,
BridgetMay 11, 2017 at 10:06 am #64883Bridget AntwiParticipantHi,
