There are not any filters really at all throughout those core files for variations.
If you would be really specific about what changes you have made- I can pass along that info to Jamie and see if it is possible to add a filter for those areas to make the changes with a filter and therefore have them be upgrade safe.
I do not know if there is the possibility of filters in this part of the code- and that may be why they are not there– so please give me more specific information and I can check on this for you.
