I’m using WC Simple Auction and when a user is listed as a Vendor, they cannot select ‘Auction’ when adding a product. In fact, they can’t select any product options. However, if made a Shop Manager, they can.
However, Shop Managers are able to edit any page or post on the entire site (among some other things they should not be able to do). I don’t think this is how it is meant to work – is it?
And I missing anything???
October 17, 2015 at 8:37 pm #11115WC Vendors SupportParticipantShop Managers are supposed to be able to do all that. That’s not WC Vendors, it’s a WooCommerce role. ( https://docs.woothemes.com/document/roles-capabilities/ )
As for Vendors not seeing “Auctions” on the dropdown, they should be able to. We have Simple Auctions running on a test server and have no problems using it.
October 18, 2015 at 1:37 am #11131konakidParticipantThanks for the prompt answer.
Not sure what I may be doing wrong. I think I am getting somewhere in my set up, but this is my problem now.
I have “Show Toolbar when viewing site” checked for a dummy account. I see the toolbar when I have the dummy account set as a Shop Manager, Editor, Contributor, etc. But it disappears when I make it a Vendor or Subscriber.
Can you point me to a path to try and troubleshoot this???
October 18, 2015 at 4:18 am #11137LuckyParticipantI am having the same issue i cant integrate WC Simple Auction Product type when adding products from the front end submission
October 18, 2015 at 4:24 am #11138konakidParticipantLucky – As a Vendor, do you have a Toolbar? If not, how do you get to the Add Product Page?
October 18, 2015 at 4:27 am #11139LuckyParticipantIf you logged in as a vendor account u can access the dashboard and add product the url will be
/dashboard/product/edit
October 18, 2015 at 4:35 am #11140konakidParticipantThanks Lucky – but my question is more specifically:
If a Vendor logs in, should there be a Toolbar, or an easy link, where he can click to add a product, or get to the Dashboard?
How would a newly registered Vendor know how to add products? Would I have to teach each one of them the URL?
October 18, 2015 at 5:09 am #11142LuckyParticipantHave a custom link menu no ? Like LIST YOUR PRODUCT
October 18, 2015 at 5:15 am #11143LuckyParticipantHI KONAKID,
Did you manage to solve auction product type ? Please help me too 🙂
October 18, 2015 at 5:47 am #11147konakidParticipantBTW – Since I have “Show Toolbar when viewing site” checked on my Vendor profile page – why do you suppose it doesn’t show???
October 18, 2015 at 5:49 am #11148LuckyParticipantI am very confused about the toolbar please send me the screen preview
October 18, 2015 at 5:55 am #11149konakidParticipantAre you asking for a screen capture? I don’t see how to attach files here.
But the toolbar I am referring to is just the standard WP toolbar that an Admin, Author, Contributor, etc. has at the very top with links to the dashboard, and shortcuts to Add Page/Post, etc.
When I make my dummy account to Shop Manager, Editor, etc. (and “Show Toolbar when viewing site” is checked) the toolbar is there. But when I switch the role to Vendor, it disappears.
October 18, 2015 at 5:56 am #11150konakidParticipantTo be clearer – I am referring to when I am on the frontend of the site.
October 18, 2015 at 6:54 am #11151konakidParticipantThanks for the help Lucky – I’ve managed to configure Menus/Links to accomplish what I need.
However, that still leaves the most important issue unresolved. That is, when adding a New Product as a Vendor, the Product Data dropdown is still totally unavailable for any selection.
It is available as a Shop Manager.
Hopefully Ben will be able to help us out.
October 18, 2015 at 6:57 am #11152LuckyParticipantPlease share me how you managed to do so i would like yo incorperate that dunction too
Thanks
LuckyOctober 18, 2015 at 7:10 am #11154konakidParticipantIf you check out my site, you can probably recognize my strategy there. Basically I used a Widget in the footer incorporating a menu with some already created WC menu options, and a custom link for Adding Products.
I will need to further refine it more later – perhaps by putting some links in a Secondary Menu at the top and trying to keep all Auction related links in one place.
Check it out here. http://www.tropiscape.com
But without the ability for a Vendor to add auction (or other) products/items, it’s a dead end. However, I’m sure Ben will have a fix.
October 18, 2015 at 7:16 am #11155konakidParticipantLucky – just noticed that the “Vendor Dashboard” menu item when clicked on has links to add and edit products among some other useful links – thus eliminating the need for a separate Add Product link – unless you want a one click direct option.
October 18, 2015 at 7:19 am #11156LuckyParticipantYes konakid,
Sounda great.lets see how can we get this issue fixed otherwise :'( cryyyy
October 18, 2015 at 7:20 am #11157LuckyParticipantYes konakid,
Sounds great.lets see how can we get this issue fixed otherwise its a dead end to me tooOctober 18, 2015 at 7:22 am #11158konakidParticipantLucky – one last thought that may help Ben – then I’m off to bed:
What theme are you using? I’m using Divi, which is sometimes quirky for developers.
October 18, 2015 at 7:25 am #11159LuckyParticipantI am using a woocommerce based theme called “shopkeeper” heres the site i am developing
October 18, 2015 at 11:50 am #11167WC Vendors SupportParticipantWooCommerce Simple Auctions will require you to customize the add/edit product template in order to add support for it. Right out of the box, we support Virtual/Downloadable/Simple/Grouped/Affiliate/External products. We have never claimed support for the Auction type of products, but we certainly do want to include it in the future by default, or have a replacement template file that you can use to drop in and use for the auction adding forms.
So, how do we do it *right now*? It would have to be custom programmed in the template, to add the form fields and hooks to save the data. This may be really easy, this may be really hard, we don’t know till we get in there and start working on it.
When can we do it? Jamie and I are slammed with Pro development, Free development, and working on v1.0.2 for release today, 1.1 for release within 2 weeks, and 1.2 for release within 4-5 weeks. We wouldn’t be able to work on this for you until after 1.2 is released.
October 18, 2015 at 12:18 pm #11176LuckyParticipantWe lose our jobbbb brotherrrrr !!! Please help us we need the site ready. 😉 i know u can do it even though its and extra charge. How much would it be
October 18, 2015 at 12:22 pm #11178WC Vendors SupportParticipantLOL you’re funny. 🙂 Let me chat with Jamie and see if he’d be able to squeeze it in our schedule.
October 18, 2015 at 12:25 pm #11179LuckyParticipantFunny is nice bro 🙂 anyways let me know asap? I woul like you to email me the charges ? Tha ks alot
October 18, 2015 at 12:29 pm #11182WC Vendors SupportParticipantSounds good. It’s bedtime in Australia where Jamie is, I’m in Florida/USA. Soon as he wakes up I’ll review this with him and email you right away.
Cheers
October 18, 2015 at 3:17 pm #11191konakidParticipantBen,
Thanks for your attention, and I understand.
But what I don’t understand is that the WC Simple Auction “people” say that to allow vendors to list auction products only requires use of one of the many Multiple Vendor add-ons. They make it sound as if any of them will/should work.
I used yours because of the great feedback and obviously good support – along with the promise of the more comprehensive Pro version.
Question: If I buy the Pro Version, will I still encounter the same problem?
October 18, 2015 at 4:06 pm #11193konakidParticipantBen – thanks again – I am really enjoying your high level of support. I was so wishing you were right.
But, I am using the free version for now, and all those capabilities have been checked and saved, and still no dropdown. 🙁
If I can get this working, a donation will be on the way.
Note: (and I may be on the wrong track) but Divi’s newest version now has an integrated Role Editor – with permission editing, etc. And I noticed when I went there that “Vendor” is not listed. However, I can designate a user as a Vendor. Just thought I would mention this. Might I have to create a Vendor role in the Divi Role Editor?
October 18, 2015 at 4:11 pm #11194konakidParticipantTo be clear – Everything is there on the Add Product page, including the Product Data “Window.” However, there is no field showing after “Product Data” – like there is for a Shop Manager – that allows for the dropdown to be used.
October 18, 2015 at 7:03 pm #11201WC Vendors SupportParticipantThanks Konakid. Shoot me as a private reply an admin account for your site and your site URL, I’ll check it out.
As for as tweaking the Vendor roles, don’t. Never do this unless you absolutely know what you are doing. 🙂 MANY people here have thought the same thing and broken a lot of stuff on their site with role editing plugins.
To be clear, too, Shop Manager is a WooCommerce role, it has nothing to do with WC Vendors at all. 🙂
October 18, 2015 at 7:20 pm #11202konakidParticipantThanks Ben – you’re going “above and beyond.” Not easy to find support like that these days. 🙂
I did see that some folks messed up User Roles – so I haven’t touched any with any plug-ins.

pw: kaloko808October 18, 2015 at 7:53 pm #11213konakidParticipantThanks a million again – and I can confirm your newly created Vendor is working.
Apparently I don’t understand how to correctly create a Vendor Account.
– First I took an existing Subscriber dummy account and changed the Role to Vendor. This is the account I was trying to get to work. It is listed as a Vendor, but apparently it is not really a Vendor (or at least a valid WC Vendor) – correct?????
– Then I tried registering anew using the “Apply to become a vendor?” and I could have sworn it didn’t work either – but now it is. 🙂
But I never “approved” that account. I didn’t see where that was to be done. Perhaps when you created your account, it got approved as well?????
In any event – I know that it now works and apparently I have to better understand the proper way to create and manage Vendors.
Two last questions so I better understand please:
– Should I be able to change an existing User to a Vendor, so they can create Auctions?
– Should I have to approve a Vendor before they can post auction items? If so, where is this done?I’m sure I can eventually figure this all out now that I know it does work. So thank you for that. And as promised, a donation will be forthcoming.
October 18, 2015 at 8:15 pm #11215konakidParticipantBen – FYI – I can’t explain it, but the dummy account I switched to a Vendor is now working properly. I don’t use a caching plugin, so I have no explanation. I can only guess I may have already been logged in with another browser (or two), and perhaps that caused a problem.
So, my donation is both and apology for being a pain, and a thank you. 🙂
October 18, 2015 at 8:31 pm #11216WC Vendors SupportParticipantThanks very much!
– Any user you “edit” and change their role to “Vendor” is a vendor. You dont need to do anything other than change their role.
– You dont have to approve a vendor, you automatically approve them in the WC Vendors Settings. 🙂
October 18, 2015 at 9:05 pm #11217LuckyParticipantHi Konakid,
By switching back to the non pro version What will be the missing features that we will experience.
Thanks,
Ben, can you please guide me to this too if i disable the pro .Will things still work ?
October 18, 2015 at 9:07 pm #11218konakidParticipantLucky – I was never using the Pro version. I guess that is something we forgot to ask one other. 🙂
October 18, 2015 at 9:22 pm #11219LuckyParticipantBen Please help me out here I need to get this done asap. You recommend me switch back to the normal non pro ones ?
October 18, 2015 at 9:25 pm #11220LuckyParticipantKonakid can u help me out i want to switch back to the normal non pro ones. How can i achieve so without crashing the setup
October 18, 2015 at 10:55 pm #11228WC Vendors SupportParticipantHi Lucky,
The reason Simple Auctions works with Free, instead of Pro, is quite simple. Free does not have its own product creation form, it simply allows the Vendor to see the same thing the admin does. Pro allows the front end dashboard to be used for adding products, rather than invite vendors into your wp-admin like Free does. It’s more streamlined, and more eye pleasing, and less confusing to vendors to use the front end to add products.
Since the front end uses a WC Vendors Pro controller to add products, it will need to be revised to support the Simple Auction plugin by adding in all of those meta keys and values that Simple Auctions uses.
It’s really just a matter of coding them and adding them in.
You have a few options, here they are:
1.) Allow us time to code in support for Simple Auctions to Pro at your expense ($250 USD)
2.) Create a link to the back-end add product form for Vendors when adding Auctions. Adding a button to the Pro Dashboard would probably be the easiest. This will allow them to still use all the features of Pro, and still add auctions this very minute today.
3.) Downgrade from Pro to Free, and wait for us to get to adding SA support on our own schedule, which would probably be in January 2016 at the latest.
Cheers
Ben
October 19, 2015 at 9:01 pm #11619WC Vendors SupportParticipantWe’ll only login to your website to fix bugs or investigate problems. 🙂 Customizing it, is a paid service, or up to you to do! 🙂
All you really have to do is add your link in the pro dashboard templates. The file nav.php is probably the fastest way. Just add in your HTML and away you go!
December 3, 2015 at 2:20 am #17400LuckyParticipant@ben: Hi Ben
Is the integration of Woocommerce Simple Auction working fine for WC Pro Dashboard. especially adding the products thought the front end submission. I think it is really important for that to work. Please advice me the steps or how can i achieve so and what are the charges if you were to customize it for me .
December 3, 2015 at 11:27 am #17477WC Vendors SupportParticipant@luckyadirake — WooCommerce Simple Auctions does not yet work with Pro. I’m coding in support for that right now. Nothing in Pro needs to change, it’s simply a new add/edit product form that adds the auction input boxes and stores the correct values. It should be done in the next 7 days. I’m about halfway done on it right now.
Once it’s done, it’ll be in the KnowledgeBase on how to copy and paste the new code for your site to use Auctions.
December 27, 2015 at 10:22 am #19313LuckyParticipant@ben any updated regarding the integration. i need them done asap. Please help me out here bro.
December 27, 2015 at 11:50 am #19317WC Vendors SupportParticipant@luckyadirake — My part of the code is completed. Once Jamie is back from holiday after the 1st his part will be finished and we will be good to go! He needs a few hours to complete his part of it.
January 10, 2016 at 12:18 pm #20326WC Vendors SupportParticipantTo all: Help beta test Simple Auctions with WC Vendors Pro.
Please keep replies about the integration into the thread there, so everything is in one place. 🙂
March 24, 2016 at 8:19 am #27881BJParticipantI am having the same problem.
Theme: Storefront
Plugin: WooCommerce Simple AuctionsVendors are not allowed to choose Product Type … the Product Type drop down menu doesn’t exist when accessed through the vendor dashboard.
I’ve read through this and nothing has helped. Can you help me?
March 24, 2016 at 11:47 am #27903WC Vendors SupportParticipantCheck your WC Vendors Settings. If you feel they are correct, toggle them, save, then re-set them, save. See if that helps.
March 25, 2016 at 10:59 am #28013WC Vendors SupportParticipantYou dont even have the Simple Auctions Integration plugin installed on your site. How can you use it if you dont have it uploaded and activated? =P
March 25, 2016 at 1:00 pm #28034BJParticipanti have WooCommerce Simple Auction installed and active… is that not the right plugin?
March 25, 2016 at 1:02 pm #28036WC Vendors SupportParticipantThat’s the right plugin to do auctions, yes. But you still need the Pro integration for it:
