I have recently migrated my site to a new server (so I can install pro), but it’s broken WCVfree so I need to fix that first. I’ve spent hours working out the problem and it’s definitely WCV and I think it’s paypal-related.

The problem is that in the checkout, the order details and shipping sections are displayed ok but greyed out. When you click place order I get an “error syntax” message.

If I try a product not from a vendor (i.e. store only) the problem goes away. I have tried to create a new paypal app and entered those details but that hasn’t fixed it. Any ideas?

What does your WooCommerce Status page say? Anything in red color?

I’m thinking this isn’t paypal actually. Does the same even with the WCV test gateway. Here’s the screenshot with the error and product details greyed out below…

No, nothing in red on the system status page… website is http://www.shetlandmarket.com if you want a look to see what’s happening. I’ll enable test checkout…

And here’s a link to a non-vendor product http://www.shetlandmarket.com/product/featured-product/ so you can see the problem seems to only occur on vendor’s products.

Thanks Ben. Dying to get Pro live but wasn’t expecting for the free to cause me problems with migrating!

That’s interesting. I had to resort to Google.

    https://wordpress.org/support/topic/24-common-issue-syntaxerror-unexpected-token?replies=1

http://www.woothemes.com/2015/08/woocommerce-2-4-release/ – Search for the word “syntax” and start reading pages of comments of other WooCommerce customers having problems (not WC Vendors customers, WooCommerce customers :))

PS — The WC Vendors Test Gateway is just the Cheque gateway from WooCommerce with orders auto set to Processing, instead of on hold. No other changes in there at all. It’s essentially 99.9999995% WooThemes code, only one word was changed in it, “on-hold” to “processing”.

In a nutshell, it’s not us, it’s WooCommerce or you. What version Woo are you running? Latest version, I hope! 🙂

    Pass the buck eh?! 😉

Thanks very much for looking. Been going round in circles all evening with this. No idea why it just started happening. “I think” I’ve got it sorted now. Strange that it only happened with vendor products though!

For anyone else, the wp-config edit did work for me, although I had tried it earlier and not worked – so you need to make sure you edit the right line of the wp-config file. Seems like a workaround/cheat rather than a fix but it’ll do for me!

Hey, if I can pass the buck, and it works, no complaints here! 🙂 I think in general half of the questions here arent even WC Vendors related. Some people think we write WooCommerce and can help with anything. 😉 (Which, I have contributed code to WooCommerce, and usually can help with most anything, but hey, only so many hours in a day!)

Glad you got it all sorted out. Still weird that migrating a site screwed up WooCommerce checkout. But hey, nature of the beast. 🙂

    Cheers
