I am considering either Dokan PRO or WC Vendor PRO for my site. I’m testing the free options of both now but will need to go PRO on one or the other and have some concerns.
There is no contact details for the WC Vendor team?
I see some people saying to stay away from Dokan, but there are hardly any reasons mentioned. One user mentioned a custom job not working out, but other than that there are no arguments.
It seems to me that Dokan is a bit more complete and mature, with more features included?
It also seems the shipping setup for dokan is better? Professional shipping setup is important to me.Dokan have made a full list of features that they argue they are in front on, on this site there is just a “search the forum” answer to this questions of comparison?
My first (and so far only) impression of the WC Vendor’s PRO demo site is not very convincing. Stating it is due to it being used for testing? If that is the impression they want to give me, that is a serious worry to me. It can’t be hard to set up a separate test site?
I am after a user friendly setup and if the programmers do not have a user friendly mindset my experience is that I soon hit a wall with what is achievable with the platform.It would be interesting to hear if there are any serious arguments for WC Vendor.

Most people that have had problems with Dokan is due to how the code is written and being able to customise or use a wide variety of themes is the main issue. I myself was a dokan theme user before they made it a plugin. Their shipping system is nowhere near the feature set that we currently provide and with our v1.4.0 release just around the corner we will be expanding our shipping features further.
Our support is fast and we’re always ready to help new and existing customers with their issues. I have to admit that yes, our marketing side of our products isn’t as polished as our competitors but that is because we are a small team focused on supporting our users and building features. We have recently launched a new docs site and will be providing feature comparison charts in the future. We will also be creating a new demo server setup in the near future. The reason our current demo server is so vanilla is we like to show what you can do with the bare minimum of plugins and theme features. The problem with a lot of theme/plugin demos these days is they look great until you get them installed and with no content and they have a 50 page manual to configure it. We wanted to take the opposite approach of, this is all you really need to run a marketplace and the rest is just a paint job.
We have a lot of options and a lot of customisation you can do with template modifications and using our actions and filters. You are wanting to build a marketplace and this kind of business is not a walk in the park and it takes time to learn the business and how to best support your vendors. We do our best to support you with any questions you have but the initial setup is as straight forward as configuring most plugins.
And serious arguments are:
We are constantly developing our product and 66% of our team use our software in their own businesses and know how to run marketplaces.
We answer support questions faster than most
Our products are still actively developed and there is plans for more in the future
The lead developer of our products (me) frequents the forums and helps out with questions when I can.
Our pro product is very customisable.

In what fashion would you beleive our product to not be complete? I am not sure what you mean by mature.. if this is age related, our plugin has been in operation – with many upgrades and modifications – since 2011.
Please let me know you shipping needs, and I can tell you if we would be able to accommodate those needs. Most multi-vendor plugins for WooCommerce do have some limitations at this time for complex shipping set-ups. I am not aware of what Dokan provides as far as shipping options.

We will be looking into setting up a full demo experience with admin capability. We have WC Vendors free so that you can use the admin capabilities in full- Pro adds many more features and options in the admin.

Thank you for your thorough answer. Shipping is my main concern, Since my marketplace will compete with Etsy and eBay it needs to have a slick easy operation. From searching the forums here, it seemed your shipping setup was lacking, but the threads might be old and not be updated. If the shipping setup is better than Dokan that is great!
I would really recommend just setting up something that is nice looking for new customers to test, and separate out your test site. First impressions are important.

-Thank you too. I am the new customer here and I think a side by side comparison, or a mention of strong-points for your platform is very useful. You already know what you need to know about this platform so you can obviously not be the reference point in what is a good way to convince potential new customers. 🙂-Mature I meant aged with more compatible plugins (at least presented in this way) and slick presentation (landing page) of the plugin and features. Dokan is slightly ahead on presentation, but you seem to have some people who vouch for your option, which is a positive. Without those mentions I would actually already have chosen Dokan.

If it went to a page with a list of features compared with Dokan or listing your strong points that would be a useful answer. But looking for the golden pin in your stack of hay is not helping new customers.
You almost lost me as a customer on these two links, and you have potentially lost many others.
Jamie mentioned about 50 pages of documentation for setting up the site. I obvious don’t want to read 50 pages of forum-posts to find “your side of the story”. What you consider your better on than Dokan, when they already listed it, and by this find what option will work best for me!-So I would love to see a feature list, compared with the competitor.
For me easy shipping functions for vendors is very important, so if your shipping solution is better than Dokan, that is very useful to know.
I read the tread on your forum and it seems that paypal shipping is simply not possible to include(?), which is a shame.I think it is important to remember that you are not your own customers any longer, you know know what you need to know and none of your potential customers have this knowledge and none of us want to read through your entire forum to find the info.

We provide two different shipping options that can be set globally and overridden for each vendor. We provide flat rate shipping ( national and international ) and a table rate shipping method. These are both already available in our current offering. In our upcoming release we have expanded the capabilities of both of these shipping systems for the vendors.
The only option I can see that we don’t have is a ‘processing time’ for shipping.
Flat Rate allows you to set a flat rate for national and international, provide free shipping for one or the other and also provide per order free shipping, min/max spend options and qty overrides.
Country rate shipping allows you to set the country, state, zip code based fees with the same free shipping over x spend and min/max spend and qty overrides.
There is also the usual processing fees. These can all be set at the per product, per vendor and globally across the market place.

Can you send me links to any of the running marketplaces with WC Vendors? Since the demo site is a bit rough it would be great to see some “mature” 😉 sites with WC Vendors installed.
Our site is about fashion but I’m sure I can envision possibilities even if the sites running WC Vendor is selling other items.

Asking our customers to email you, just to make you feel better about a free plugin, is kinda weird, so if you do get even one reply, I’d be pretty surprised. They wont even be reading this thread, they all already own Pro so wouldnt even be here because this is a generic thread title that comes up once every few days, pre-sales questions, pre-sales inquiry, etc…. Clearly, this is a bad advertising billboard. It’s a dead end street. 🙂

I currently use the Social Marketplace (one social theme + buddyboss marketplace plugin) by BuddyBoss but it is heavily customized– so it does not look like that out of the box. Easy, now. He did inform you that we respect our users’ privacy by NOT handing out URLs to try and advertise our product, which *is* constructive.
There are some users who have shared their websites here and there- but usually people do not like to give out trade secrets or advertise across the web how to make a site like theirs.Try out WC Vendors free and you can see the functionality of WC Vendors Pro with our Demo site. Demo is not pretty, no- but that is so that we are not advertising a design- but rather the functionality of the plugin. The design can be what you want it to be- highly customizable and versatile. You can use a theme that is specially designed for WC Vendors- r use another theme and design the templates and css yourself.

I was surprised to be called “weird” in a response to a support request. It leaves me with a unpleasant feeling and concern if this is the right solution for me. I thought my question was pretty straight forward and it is important to have the right starting point before pouring thousands of $$$ into customisations.I hear ya, but damn, if one word — weird — throws you into a whirlwind of “OMG WILL I USE THIS PRODUCT” then please just do not. Not yet; but in our upcoming version 1.4.0 of WC Vendors Pro, which will be released in early April, you will be able to set category restrictions for vendors.
2 – Can vendors add external products ?
Yes- vendors have the option to list an external/affiliate product type. Both free and Pro.
3 – Is your plugin compatible with “Measurement Price Calculator” Plugin
I do not know if this needs some integration work to show up in the front end forms for the vendors or not– I will take a look at this plugin and see if I can get a hold of a copy to test. I m not familiar with the plugin at all at this time.
4 – I Want to order a new customized woocommerce shipping method so it can be used in a Split cart items ( vendor-wise split), i.e. from the same order via multiple shipping methods ( vendor-wise method).
Our Vendor shipping in WC Vendors Pro already does this.. could you be more specific about what you need for shipping?
5 – Does your plugin handle refunds ?
No- refunds would be handled and processed via the payment processor. As admin, you CAN mark commissions as reversed for orders that have been refunded.
6 – Can vendors invoice buyers?
Not exactly.. we do have plans to work with integrating an invoicing plugin, though full integration is not available form us at this time. I do believe some users have had a PDF invoicing plugin for WooCommerce integrated by a dev, though.
Vendors also have the option to list a product privately, and they can share the private listing link with the customer.Please let us know if you have any further questions. 🙂

a) They can offer an option for National and for International. Following our next WC Vendors Pro release, version 1.4.0, they will also have the option to set Max rate per order, free shipping if the order is over “x” amount, and a few other options. Each of these default rates that they set for their store can also be overridden on a per product basis as well. Otherwise, they cannot set a rate for express, standard or free.. or something like that, no.b) Not from one vendor, no. they’ll have one set rate per product depending on if they are national or international.
c) There will be different shipping rates per vendor. It will be clear that there will be parcels form each vendor- especially after our v1.4.0 update.
