    Hi guys,
I use WP AllImport Pro with their WC add on to populate my site.

It works well, and now to save even more time I am trying to grab the Vendor names from the import files, but I can’t. Allimport normally finds all custom fields itself, but isn’t finding this one (Vendor).

No problem, I can add it manually, if I know the name!

I have tried both “wc_product_vendor” and “pv_shop_name” but neither works, it just keeps inserting my own log-in name as the Vendor for every product.

Could you tell me the name of the field I need to use for this please?

    Many thanks,
    Philip.

    Hi Philip,

You’ll be surprised, that the field that tells WooCommerce who the vendor is, is simply the post_author field. 🙂 It’s not a custom box, it’s not a custom anything, this is actually a WordPress core field, above even WooCommerce! 🙂

    Hello Ben,
thanks for coming back to me.
Unfortunately, I still can’t get it to populate correctly, it is still adding my log-in name as the vendor on every product I import.
I will keep playing with it though, I have been using WPAI for a long time and now that I have the correct field name I’m sure I’ll crack it.
    Regards,
    Philip.

Make sure that when you use the post_author field, you are entering the vendors user ID #, and not anything else. After all, it’s the ID that the post_author field accepts, nothing else.

You might also like this plugin:

    Hi Ben,
yup, using the User ID number instead of the name worked, great!

Thanks for the heads-up on that other plugin, but I am pretty happy with what I have, and now that I got this sorted it does everything I need again.

    Many thanks,
    Philip.
